Hello again everyone. I have been thinking that its time for the Aye You to have a serious clean, plus it'll give me an excuse to steal the garage from Mum
Now im looking to get it nice and shiny and am willing to do the hard labour to get it that way, so what do you guys suggest in the way of products and processes. Oh, i do have a pressure cleaner if thats gonna make a difference. I mean i can do the normal cust and polish followed by wash and wax but it never gets that certian look i want, similar to 70aster's shots. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=68037 post number 12 to be precise. Thanks in advnace guys Nick |

You say show room finish, so in that it is possible but depending on your car ( condition now ) and how much you want to put into it it could take a day or could take weeks to achieve this. Start with some basics first. wash, clay ( if needed ) , scratchx ( if needed ), paint clnr , sealant, wax , then ( do a panel at a time if you want ) trim , tyres , rims , glass. interior carpet / floor , trim , dash, seats , glass. just try and break it down to small sections and do each one well. when you have done all of that, wheel arches, boot , engine bay as a side call. kep us posted with a step by step pic run down , once you have it sorted you will find its easy to do and easy to keep that way. |

Clay is in a way like a depp cleanser for your paint, it is a plasticine type froduct to feel and and is used afte a very good wash, you take a piece that fits into the palm of your hand flattened out and cobine this with a lubricant the rub it over your panels, this will suck out for better words all of the crap in the pores of your paint refreshing it.
megs do a kit with the clay and lube all in one for around $30 bucks and will be enough to do your car with. EDIT type in clay bar in the search function and you will find plenty of good info. |

It depends on what the condition of the paint you're starting with is like too for example do you have swirls, watermarks or oxidization that needs to be removed?

I think you'll find also that 70AST's AU looks immaculate because white is a fairly low maintenence colour. I agree with whats been said, a clay bar and a good polish should see it lookin good.

Yep so true Glenn, me and Jucy did a white BA6T last week, I commented how damn good she came up for a car not TLC'd as much as ours.....
You hardly see any marks on it compared to metalics etc......

speaking of clay bar...
that was a good 8 months ago.. after some more work the shine is SOOOO deep. for a major detail, i go: NXT Wash > Clay Bar > NXT Polish > Cab Wax. yes i know i shouldnt use the clay bar everytime, but my paint is rooted anyway.

Some coluors will show a shine better than others. The darker colours will show up better the than a littler colour. It's time to do the hard work & post up a pic when your finish.

just a quick Q about BA interior cleaning (instead of a whole new thread).
is there something other than Armourall to clean/shine the BA interior plastics? im finding the armourall hard to work with on the BA surfaces. |

Apply with cloth in the shade, i wouldd also use the Megs quick interior detail to clean the surface if needed before using this if needed. HTH Pete |

Mate as i get older my surfaces arn't as smooth as they used to be either but some gentle rubbing with a good lube seems to iron out most wrinkles
Champ you will find its a great product, also grab a small clean ( new ) soft brush and paint the door rubbers and trim , rubber around glass, then wipe with a clean MF clth to protect those areas, Dont apply to hard plastics like the silver facia on the centre panel, the quick interior detail is better for that. |

Here's one of my favourite bling shots of my mine taken by Wulos. I'd used Clay Magic blue, Menzerna final finish, Bowdens Own cleanser & wax probably a month or so before this photo was taken using Bowdens wash & quick detailer to maintain it.

For interior plastics I always use 303 Aerospace Protectant. I have found nothing better. It is water based so it doesn't harm things like the clear instrument cover if it gets on them. It also provides sun protection to vinyls and plastics which most other products, particularly Armorall, don't. In fact, my father put it on his perspex boat windscreen and canopy. It actually worked like rain-x on the boat screen and when he got home the salt just rinsed off with the hose. AMAZING STUFF. |
