what a bummer with all the rain and flooding we are having here in the south east QLD.
Anyway I went to work this morning and we were told to go home...Yipee. I headed of home and found all the streets leading to my house were flooded (some 3ft deep). So when I was about 500m from home I came to another flooded road. I looked quiet deep. so I let the 4x4 go through before me so I could gauge whether or not it was safe to cross. It was not so I did a U turn. the side of the road I was on was dry (so to speak) and the other was under water. I thought there was only 6 inches of water tops on that part of the road. Anyway there was more and I found out the hard way and that's when the front when under and the ute had a drink. why didn't I back out more before I did the U turn. I did go back as far as I could go but was blocked by other cars that were wan'ting to cross. And as I said it realy did not look that deep. Oh well. You get that. Matt |

On the Gold coast. we got 500mm off rain in 18hours. when I was comming home from Kingscliff I saw small car floating down the lower road.
I have never seen such heavy rain, rain as long as it did today. It started at 10pm last night and stopped at 1:30pm today with no brakes on the down pour |

We need photos!
Yeah SMH has photos from Gold Coast airport of a 737 with its engines partially submerged. Its safe to assume the engines are off, but I'm curious to know what damage, if any would result to a partially submerged jet engine (bottom 1/5 under water) |
