More often than not when we slow down at an intersection the motor begins to run rough. It staggers, loses responsiveness and sometimes stalls.
This only happens when I am on gas. With petrol there is no problems. I can prevent this from happening when on gas by manualy down-shifting the automatic gear selector to "second" just before the revs drop too far. This a dual fuel 1999 AU wagon that has done 250,000+ kms and exhibits no other problem behaviour. It starts fine and idles smoothly. I keep the petrol tank dosed with injector cleaner and switch to petrol from time to time when at highway speeds. Any suggestions? Thanks

Try the LPG forums, there's a few LPG mechanics there.
(Or ask a mod to move this post there)

what system is on it? it seems like either the balance line isn't set up properly, or the idle on the converter isn't adjusted properly

^^^ Those first, then maybe vacuum leak somewhere? My '99 AU has had a couple of split / cracked vacuum hoses this year and a suspect brake booster diaphragm, all of which have made the LPG play up more than the petrol.

also after a backfire these problems will occur. check to make sure your airfilter is clean first and foremost. then check all air ducting thoroughly to ensure there are no splits or breakages...especially the rubber elbow, they always split there. if the balance pipe (hose that runs from the snorkle side of the airbox to the back of the converter) is connected, then you may want to get it to your local fitter to get it checked out more.

I have found if this sort of issue has only just started ... check to make sure your air filter is clean/unblocked ... then make sure the balance line is free of kinks ... and doesn't have leaks.
