I doubt GM have the funds to accelerate a new model development program. Being that the VE is still the best selling car in the land they would be stupid not to milk it for everything. How do you spell amortisation?? Series 3 why not. Remember this is just a trademark doesn't mean they are locked in yet.

Cool logo though. Pity about the car.

I think that is the HSV logo more than the Holden logo. Holden will stay with the MY designation for each model year.....

Funny thing is that when VE launched they made a big anouncement that commodore would not keep the same 'body shell' for as long as previous generations.....e.g. VT-VZ. The MD of the time said it was not possible in the modern market to keep one shape/style for as long because of rapidly changing tastes, and that a 'new' body woudl go on VE in about 4-5 years tops..... This i suppose is kinda correct esp with toyota always putting new 'models' on waht is effectively 99% the same platform/engines etc.

Now they seem to be doing exacltly what they said they wouldn't, its been 4 years approx and no body change at all, save some changes to wheels/chrome and a pontiac limited edition (not regular model) nosecone on SS..... The VF 'update' will come in mid year i suppose but it is not sheet metal just front/rear valent and maybe bonnet. I realise the GFC and GM bankruptcy have hit but you can ad the 'we will change sheet metal' statement to the long long list of holden porkies...

Then again, Ford hasn't changed the sheet metal on territory and it still sells (albeit in lower numbers) and is probably beingheld back by insufficient production...... To be honest, the problems with the VE go way beyond its unchanged styling.....they can put what series badges they want on it when you have an outdated interior and uncompetitive just released drivetrains you've got bigger problems....

Maybe HSV have found a new place to stick on some LED's and need a new model to announce it.

Maybe they realized how damn ugly the E2 is, and are rushing the release of a replacement that doesn't make one feel the need to regurgitate.

It'd be a 90 degree V like most V8s. They're carrying over the bore spacing from the Modular series for the sake of being able to maintain some of the machinery used to build to motor too. Anything other than 90 degrees in a V8 is pretty rare and prone to excessive vibration.

If you want to assume that an E3 will follow the same release schedule (to TM Register) you will be looking at a May/June Release...
correct it's to go with the new driveline

Not HSV but this is apparently a video of a VF mule, the differences described by the person who took the video (senator from ls1 forums) are the air vents being moved to the top and the new front end covered by the bra

It's so easy for them to test anything based on this platform in the public now, especially drivetrains and interiors...

I remember seeing spy photos of wide-bodied VY's before the VE came out :
