I dont have a problem about using the GTHO name....but if they do it must be pushing the boundaries of performance to the point where they will ban them.GtHO is the pinnicle of performance.

Personally, and really this is only my opinion of what i would like to see, if you are to give it the GT-HO moniker then it has to be a limited build........say 300...
But if it is just going to be a continuous production run (with no set limit) then you can call it anything but a GT-HO, for me the HO variant has to maintain its exclusivity.....

GT-HR HR for hell raiser
Only problem for me is that HR at the moment reminds me of the old premiers. GT-351HR? GT-DO devil output GT-DO351 GT-KR King of the Road GT-351KR.. Might be a bit too Americanish GT-351LK lion killer Definately something to think about while I'm working night shift tonight.

Why does it need to be called something different?
I would love to know the inside info on sticker packs and how they work. Because IMO these updates coming out should just be part of the normal GT package. If they are not now then they will be later, and if the future of the Falcon is unsure then pull the guns out now..dont wait another two years. So I vote for just plain old GT.

GT = Mass produced performance street car. A Grand Tourer for the masses. So the letters GT have significance but do not directly relate to a race car.
HO= Limited Run high performance race car that was able to be street registered. A race car first and foremost and a street car distant second. A modern day HO has no race relevance to the originals, it would be a claytons HO at best. Its impossible to take a current Falcon V8 supercar and register it on the street, and call it a HO Falcon. Its not even a Falcon to start with. But if you could then it would be a true GTHO Falcon. That era of race on Sunday drive home on Monday is over. Its time to move on. Black Caviar is a modern day legend but Im glad they didnt call her Farlap Mark 2. |

The Phsae 3 was about 20 percent faster than the gt from factory,so if Ford are going to use the GTHO name this is the yardstick...So they dont waist threir time and our time.

It would be a boost for both the AMC/PTCC and Ford...HO returns to the race track. I used to think that a modern day HO needed V8sc bits, but, as i grew wiser, i dont see how a modern touring car formula, consisiting of pure race cars (Ie, not tweeked production cars) has got anything to do with the HO... The closest would be the 2 "super falcons" built for modified production...but thats a different story. Perhaps, if FPV borrowed the bolt on "track" kit (consisiting of a front splitter and rear wing) from the Laguna Seca mustang, then you'll have a significant link with the racetrack. I think Ford fans are their own worse enemy when it comes to the HO, propelling it so high. With comments like "the XY being the only HO" curiously omitting the other 3.5 phase specs...

True and you can enter it into your local hill climb event as well but that doesnt make it worthy of a legend tag like HO.
If production car racing was the main game and V8 Supercars wasnt then I could see your point. But the way V8 Supercars is set up there isnt an option for a return of a true HO model that crosses the boundaries of street and race car in the one package. |

GTPete's post (#99) above made me think for a minute
Maybe the change to our Bathurst race does mean the concept of HO is less relevant. I don't want to open that can of worms here (Bathurst old vs new) but prior to his post I was thinking the HO just needed to be a similar improvement over GT as it was in the 70's, but maybe it should remain true to what it was then, Bathurst homologation Maybe that is why GT should be used again but HO should remain where it sits in our hearts (and some very lucky peoples garages) only |

fastest 4 door in the world? thats just creating a category that limited the competition. fast cars back then didn't have 4 doors. the more criteria you add, the more you limit the competition. i don't think anyone is saying just resurrect HO on any old sticker pack evolution of the current GT. everyone wants to see those 2 letters on a decent performance car, and the car in question is a modified GT. wider tyres, modified suspension and possible engine tune/upgrade etc. given the current poor economic climate and poor sales of the FPV cars, what better couple of letters to lift the sales and create a new lust amongst the baby boomers (and cashed up bogans). |

The fanatics forbid any current car from ever bearing that title and continuing the legend. So sad because so many of these highly emotional people will never ever buy a new GT Edit, IMO, FPV is more than capable of building a GT worthy of the GTHO name, we should let them do it... |

You guys are being far too logical for this thread.
Xy being the only ho.... Lol there's one eyed loyalty then there's just ignorance. There's already been a modern day ho anyway, so I fail to see why the hysterics from some. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=allan+moffat+eb+ho&hl=en&tbo=d&source=lnm s&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=QPT4T7TVMoytiQfTxJTkBg&ved=0CCo Q_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i|0;d|mFVovPt5SZVDBM: Last edited by nstg8a; 08-07-2012 at 12:50 PM. |

Yep and you could also buy a 6 cylinder 186's GTS to go to the shops in.
Classic example of why the HO letters have so much cred, they havent over the years been watered down from their original race status. |

The thing is, what the Phase 3 achived, won't be watered down...it will still be the legend it is, you can't take away what it has done, its written in the history books.
This remindes me, of the Monaro debate... A few claimed that it was not a monaro, but a two door commodore...forgetting the fact that the commodore is in plain sense, a kingswood. And, whats was a 2 door kindswood, nought but a Monaro.

If the new car with suspension mods can lap Bathurst mor than 10 seconds faster with the chase on conrod, let them call it a HO.
Oops, we may just have an non turbo XR6 HO Seriously, enough of the HO being untouchable. Great car, a bit better than the competition of the time. Ford should use the name and send the Falcon off with a car that befits the marque. Suspension/Brakes/ Serious R spec Tyres is all it needs.

I voted 'Suggestions Please'
I think leave the GT-HO where it is. It's historically significant, and has racing in it's veins. Any road car produced today will not have the same bloodline. I personally never liked 'R-spec' - was a bit too Honda/Subaru/Toyota (read:Ricer) for me. The letter (H) is associated with Hybrid / Green cars, so I wouldn't touch that either. So - my suggestion is lift the power output to 351kw and call it a GT 351.

Just make it a Regular GT. its about time for an update and wider tyres and better suspension is not really an upgrade when they need it to handle the power it has now without more, to have the fabled HO name it has to have a purpose, if it was a track spec car to go production car racing with it makes sense Like the BOSS 302 in the states

It should be called
GT There shouldnt be variants or more option boxes to tick. The GT should be the cream of the Ford stables. I dont want a GT-HO - RSPEC - Sunbird - Limited Edition - Cobra - GT40 - By Foose. I want a GT and it should kick **** and be taking names.

For mine, I reckon that the GT351 works, provided
- Its a 5.8L 351 cube - It pumps out at least 351 kW If this is going to be Falcon's last roll of the dice, (according to Moff, the time is ... now) then FFS, Ford, make this GT351 an insanely fast one. FFS. Please. |
