XC's are one of my favourite cars, but I have never heard of a "Challenger" sounds like a Chrysler

I think you mean Continental. I was working a panal shop back in 80's one of panal beaters had one. The Continental have a vinyl roof goes down the back doors and onto the boot lid.http://www.aus-ford-uk.co.uk/html/vinyl_roofs.html

here is the one that sold on carsales

the XC SE badge is different to the chrysler one, but only around the centre section, where the Ford emblem went.
see the raised ridges of the SE backing match up with the Ford emblem perfectly, when compared to the Dodge badge.
the 2x badges do look like they have been made by the same company though, outsourced?

Really? That's a lazy piece of design work on that badge by whoever did their first (Chrysler or Ford)...it looks almost identical, they've just knocked off the top section of the three pointed bit for the Ford badge...

yeah, and the 2x wings, side bits off each side of the Ford badge are a different shape wedge too

dont forget the vinyl roof running onto the front 1/5th on the bootlid is different to the GXL
and the vinyl running down the top of the rear doors and ending 3/4 of the way along, with a perfect fitting chrome finishing trim is different to the GXL.
and all the stainless steel surrounds that were custom made to suit the XC Challengers' vinyl roof and profile of the XC...
