I don't like bugging people to get figures for each model each month, so I'll ask where do you guys get the numbers from...?

Not sure why people are saying the VF failed.
I believe the commodore sold close to 28000 units for the year. 10000 of those were the VE in run out mode up until June. So the VF has sold 18000 units in the remaining 6 months, not a bad turnaround considering large sedans are on the nose with a lot of buyers. The FG sold just over 10000 units for the whole 12 months. The Aurion sold just under 7000 units in 12 months and that includes the new model! Food for thought ......

Its the same tired arguments...
Holden sold more because they spend too much on marketing Holden sold more because they put lots of pointless gadgets in the car Holden sold more because they bankroll the best V8SC teams At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Holden sold more. |

No chance of that happening, all the money has been spent. They will just have to take measures to get out as many FG's as they can and build the hell out of the 201X. They will push Territory hard as it's the only one still selling ok.
This year 30k should be achieveable, but it's the year after that that might be the hardest. If they can't come close to 30k come 2015 they will probably pull up stumps. At least they will have some fresher product to flog though so who knows. Maybe they will stockpile cars and just shut the factory earlier and live off the stockpile instead of building more. |

Could this whole 30k a year requirement see them try to get the next Falcon out sooner rather than later so that they have a chance of hitting that target? Sure the new model will see sales pick up when it is released, but could sales slump too much in the meantime if people hold out for the new model. giving them no hope of hitting 30k even when sales pick up with the new model? |

Ecosport shouldn't have been released until all models are available. I know Ford did it to get the car out ,there. But people will be put off by the $28k price tag. When they could have the Ambiente for $22k...Which other car company releases a model with not all levels immediately available ?????? It gets back to Fords marketing strategies???

From the US, don't forget the Holden Volt, as well as the Mercedes ML and GL, and BMW X3, X5, X6, and Z4. The new (non-Navara based) Pathfinder also comes from the US, as does the upcoming new Toyota Kluger. And of course, the Fiat Freemont (Dodge Journey twin). I can easily see the number of vehicles coming from the US almost doubling next year, as we'll have the new Pathfinder, Kluger, and compact Cherokee adding to the tally. However, in the frame of its segment, the Commodore murdered its competitors in 2013. It managed to increase its market share to over 52%, while Falcon and Aurion both declined (to 20% and 13% respectively). Let's not forget, Aurion is a new model too. So, Commodore sold more than every other large car on the market, combined. In my book that certainly isn't what I'd consider a failure. It's hard to blame the car when the market has walked away from the segment. |

2012 total sales 30532 2013 total sales 27766 (10301VE / 17465VF < approx 70% increase for the last 6 months) Around a 9% drop overall. Let's not forget the VF has only been out for 6 months. The whole of the large sedan market dropped about 16% so it defied the odds in that regard. Falcon down 24% (Old model so fair enough) Aurion down 24% (New model, ouch) Jan - June 2014 figure will be interesting to see for VF Mazda3, Corolla & HiLux were the standouts for 2013 and shows where the market has headed.

VF on sale 2nd half in 2013 Commdore 2nd half 2012: 14,672 2nd half 2013: 17,465. That is an increase of 19%.. I'd hardly call a 19% increase a fail? You must have high standards!! |
