Default Cam Change

my other half is swapping his cam as we speak, has undone the tensioner and cant get the chain to come up over the end of the cam?? can someone help??

he released the tensioner but can't get the cam gear off the cam ? that's really weird it should be slack as! or he can't get the sprocket back on the cam ?

yeah he can't get the sprocket back on!! he is gettin really annoyed... the tensioner is apparently fully released.

I have no idea... but there isn't much slack in the chain.. not enough to lift the sprocket back upto the end of the cam (i am a girl so sorry if im not making any sense)

when you say released has he pulled the tension out of the side of the block ? You need to remove the plug and the rest of the tensioner will then slide out and give the chain the slack it needs.

you dont want it t be fully released. spin the motorbackwards by hand just a little bit and it should give you more chain slack. im talking rotate it only a few millimetres at a time.

Are you trying to put the chain onto the cam gear when the cam gear is bolted to the cam? If so, don't. Put the chain over the cam gear then attach the cam gear to the cam.

Even with the tensioner fully in you can still get the cam gear onto the cam. Ive changed LOTS of ohc's and i've never removed the tensioner, its unnessacary.
