Default Water in boot..

Im hopefully getting some subs soon and want to get this problem sorted before i put them in my boot

Dunno how long it has been like this (I dont go into my boot very often)

The inside of the boot doesn't get wet during the rain, but afterwards, when i open the boot, it leaks from the bootlid thingy, usually when i raise it around 3/4's or higher

Reading up on past threads i see there are two main possibilities:

1. Spolier bolt holes

2. Numberplate holes and/or trim above the numberplate

Just wondering, which is easier to rule out first?

I have a feeling it is the numberplate holes, cuz i noticed when i was washing my car the other day, when i sprayed the water around my rear numberplate, it looked as tho water was going into my taillights and soap was splashing around n stuff.. So how do i check these? What exactly am i looking for?

Many thanks.. again
