Default 2007 Focus Zetec dash cluster issue

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 Zetec and a few issues have surfaced. I have done a rough search on the forum and found a few other issues but not sure if it's the same thing.

The odometer section on my speedo cluster is spinning around like a carousel. It's hard for me to describe exactly what it's doing. I took it to Thompson Ford where i purchased the car and the advisor said that it's fairly common and is to do with the connection at the back of the dash being loose causing the numbers to spin around.

He said he would have to order in a revised cluster then calibrate my speedo and re fit.

He said it wasn't too big a job but i wanted to see if anyone else has come across this before?

I would also like to understand how this cars odometer works..? Is the odometer reading stored only in the dash cluster? While this cluster problem exists is it still logging the amount of KM i am doing? When the cluster spins around it still looks like it has the 3215km on it from when the cluster was last working?

Sorry about the long rant!
