Post Wtf sohuld i do with these holes in the cold air intake

Hi i removed my cold air intake on my new ea for the first time the other day trying to work out what the problem with my air con was i discoverd that some one had boared out 2 2and a half inch holes in the cold air intake snorkel should the be plugged or what some one told me i could run pvc piping to them and give it more cold air just woundering i taped up the $%^&s to see what would happen but it just stalled when i slowed down for round abouts but it idled fine...
since i have recently come from the dark side (former vl and r31 skyline owner) i know nothing about fords so i figure i should ask you fellas as you seem to all know your ford stuff
