Hi everybody, I have just joined the forums and this seems like a real great place.
I am currently looking to buy a flat tray AU Ute with a manual gearbox. My problem is living in Tasmania I have not been able to find one anywhere. If anybody knows or has anything for sale I would be interested . Other than that what would be my best avenue in purchasing my ute? Cheers anyway Trekka. Oh and I am willing to travel interstate to make a purchase. |

Best bet is to buy any falcon ute, get a tray for it (around $1500), and sell the tub off for around $1k.
Oh, and welcome. Enjoy the stay, and I hope you have your antibiotics handy (there's a nasty mod bug that hits pretty hard).

As for kms - the lower the better, obviously, but if you get a higher km one, just haggle hard on price, and be prepared to replace suspension bushes etc - as you're looking for a manual, you may also need to replace the clutch etc at some stage, but the 6s and 8s pretty much go foreever as long as they have been serviced regularly.

With manuals you need to check to see if there has been a firewall repair as it can tear due to stress from the clutch as well ... also a tight/heavy clutch usually means there is strain on the cable as well (that runs through the firewall.).
Other than that ... the usual maintenance etc ... check for accident damage if you can ... and a good point made my JC ... look at all utes ... you can sell the tub for good $$$$$ ... or keep it ... and make it into a trailer.
