Hey mate hang in there - having driven a few FG Utes in my time I can tell you the XR8 is SO worth it, you'll be even more ****ed off if you do let go. I couldn't love my Turbo more and I'm not lucky enough to have DSC which is a sensational feature for both resale and primarily safety - saved my life twice in my old Focus.
The Ute orders for September went crazy because everyone waited until DSC became standard on utes. This in turn meant waiting times stretched out. Hang in there chief, I'm sure the Salesperson is sweating on it and getting his Ford rep do do all in his power. I can guarantee Ford won't be telling the Dealer they're not interested and they'll get it to you, along with the hundreds of other XR utes as quickly as time permits. It's worth the wait mate!

Bloody hell, build a bridge.
I had to wait over two weeks for delivery of my GT-P and I bought that of the showroom floor. Things take time. Go and order a new Kenworth and see how long that takes to be delivered. And don’t worry about jumping up and down in the salesman’s office because it’s going to cost $300,000. It won’t make them build it any faster.

Read his post. He was given a delivery date. Then it was put back. Now he finds that his car due for delivery this month has not even in production yet. Poor show from his dealer who should be able to give him some reasons for this. Under the circumstances I think most of us would be annoyed/frustrated. |

So what is your problem with my post? I quoted you as saying you blew up at your dealer, something to which you admit, yet you are unhappy that I pointed that doing so will not get you very far. Which it won't. Just because you didn't direct your anger at the dealer really makes no difference.

The issue as I see it is dealers intentionally misleading people with false delivery dates in order to make a sale - has happened to me in the past and seems to occur quite often to other people. Instead of everyone attacking this poor bloke we should be insisting that dealers stop intentionally misleading people - don't believe all their excuses, they do it on purpose. ACCC should crack down.

For production not to have even started by the time he was supposed to pick up the keys and drive away is a friggin disgrace. If Johndec was told initially that delievery could be anywhere between xxxx and yyyy, rather than a specific time (3rd week in Sept) , then he would have no reason to complain and probably wouldn't. The difference here is that he was made a promise, that's the key issue here that a few here just don't seem to understand. If after ordering a pizza and asking how long till it's ready and being told 15 minutes only to come back in 15 minutes time and be told " sorry sir it will be another 30 minutes", "oh.... and by the way we haven't started cooking it yet"...wouldn't we all be very upset? BTW nothing wrong with being egotistical - A better life trait to have than having crap dished out to you and just accepting it like a dead mouse.

FPV have lots of F6 Tornados sitting at Campbellfiield (or at least they did on GT open day) Perhaps see if you can do a deal and take one offi their hands immediately.
8 weeks. Blah.

Car ordered Aug 2005, to be handed to me Dec 2005.
Picked it up in Feb 06. (hunt for the thread, it's around somewhere) Having contacts with in the dealer, Ford and FPV made little to no difference. I got told different things from all three and it was only Happy Jack's intervention and PM's that claimed the waters with a Bride ready to kill all involved. As it works out, the bumpers were stuffed up and so the car was pushed aside at FPV. The real problem was the lack of communication between Ford and FPV and both of them to the dealer. If Ford have not yet started building the car, there will be a reason for it... but they have not explained it to the dealer, to have them explain it to you. As a result, everyone wants blood, but the anger is wrongly directed. I'm yet to meet a dealer that has gone out of their way to lie to a customer, giving them a false date, just for a laugh.... I your case, something stupid may have happened. The car may have been double allocated (two dealers requesting the same car) and the other dealer got the car, meaning yours got pushed back, awaiting the next batch in that colour to be put through. (When I ordered the GT, I wanted DeJa Vu, there was one about to go in (Sept 05) and it was not allocated yet, the next DeJa Vu was not due to start until Dec 05... so I was lucky to get the one penciled in) It arrived and I've never given it a second thought. - You will be the same.

First FG turbo ute ordered 23-04-08 and delivered 01-08-08
Second FG turbo ute ordered 06-08-08 and coming off production line today so should see it in about 10 days or so, second still took 2 months and delivery was quoted at 3 to 4 weeks. Last edited by Supercharged; 23-09-2008 at 02:23 PM. |

You can't use the 5 month VW as an analogy...If after having been told it would take 5 months to build his ute this bloke decided to go ahead with the purchase then he has no complaint if it was ready within that 5 month period. The issue at hand here is nothing to do with the long lead times in manufacturing motor vehicles, but a lot to do with promises being made to a customer which couldn't be honoured.

Ordered my xr6t ute 2 weeks ago, I were told it would take 4-6 weeks. Just stay clam and weeks will pass pretty quick. No point to get angry about the waiting time, can't trust the salesman at any dealers anyway, once signed the dotted line, they don't care anymore.

So now sales men are the good guys!!! Never met one at a dealership that was honest yet in 30+ years of buying cars, including my uncle who worked for a Large Ford Dealership for 15+ years...

Hey Johndec,
My job is to order new cars, and have done for 3 years. I can tell you dealers don't delay customer orders to p**s them off. There are many reasons why we have to build a vehicle from scratch and sometimes it isn't as easy as sourcing from another dealer. The factory can tell us a start date then change it to another, etc. It is very frustrating. Some times as I have salesperson asking why isn't mr.smith's car her yet, you told me x date! (but with swaring etc hehe) It does help if you as the customer call 133673, Ford Customer Relationship Centre with the SIDO of your vehicle. If all my abilities are exhausted I guide salespeople to get the customer to call that number. I hope you get your new XR8 soon! They are an awesome machine!

Am sort of in the same boat at the moment, waiting on a new xr8 for a month. Was told end of this now month now looking at some time in oct. Bit frustrating but dealer has been good to get along with and will even supply a car until ours turns up. So not all bad.

why dont you ask for a demo to drive around in until yours is ready?
bit of free advertiing there if your happy with the dealers effots of helping you out then you may tell family/friends about it and hopefully snowballs from there. maybe wouldnt help everyone out in the situation but goes a long way for customers satifaction IMO.
