is your unit double-din or single-din?

If it's single-din, you will need to buy a pocket to sit underneath the pioneer unit.

You can buy them from JB etc for $20.

So it will look like this:

na not it the one i saw showed how brackets were made to hold the deck in as there is a small space between the pocket and the deck.

Here's a good one:

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...=single+pocket

I did the same thing when installing my Pioneer unit, except I didn't make the steel strap under the cradle like NC1183 did. You need to drill some holes in the side of the cradle to allow you to bolt the surround back in after you've put the cradle in.

I found that the cradle will sit there fine without the steel strap if you install the cradle first, then bolt the surround back into position, slide the head unit into the cradle (while making sure the rear retaining screw and rubber poke into the factory hole), then instal the pocket underneath. If you put the pocket in before the headunit it makes it pretty hard to line up the screw and rubber.

I was lazy, got the pocket and put it in, then used some sticky foam strips along the top and underside of the front of the headunit, wedged it into place, hasnt fallen out since and looks fine =D

I put the strap underneath because i've got my headunit sitting out a bit at the front, to level up with the pocket and front of the dash. Also gives the headunit cage another place to clip too.

i installed an alpine deck to my AU a few weeks back, I did a similar thing to the strap method...

bent two pieces of metal into an L shape, and welded them to the HU cage. then had screws from the L brackets into the metal dash sides.
More effort, I know : but its sturdy as and won't be ripped out in a hurry!

havent put in the din pocket so theres a big hole there , but its rough plastic and looks crappy (bought it off ebay, what do you expect).
What brand makes the plastic like the dash texture??
