Yes big fan of them, as well as the Buddha Bar and Cafe Del Mar series. Just the ticket for when you are struggling to overcome the side effects of a big night, or just need to slow things down. As for needing fast music to get "amped" or "angry", that's for sissys!!!! I can get dangerously ****ed off at will, without needing some friggen long haired tattoed wig wearing nancyboys growling out some bullsh!t at 200 beats a minute with a pair of bi-polar guitarists who have no concept of what an effects pedal is actually used for, and a token bassist who wouldn't be missed if he impaled himself on the hi-hat. Music for cretins! :sm_headba

Go underground! Visit websites, download sample mp3, then go web-shopping for CDs from small distros. Myspace.com has an artists section, you might find some good underground there.
I listen to mostly metal, everything from old stuff like Black Sabbath, Led Zep, Maiden, Priest through thrash, death, grind, etc, (not nu-metal, or metalcore), but the vast majority is underground stuff - even the metalheads here won't have heard some of it. But taking what you currently listen to, try some of the below. None of them are what I'd call underground (unless you listen to Top 40...), so you should be able to find this kind of stuff easily. Iced Earth, Dio - Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Blind Guardian ,Demons and Wizards (Blind Guardian + Iced Earth), Queensryche, Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff, Edguy, etc Dream Theater - Angra, Kamelot, etc Opeth - if you like Opeth, then you HAVE to listen to Edge of Sanity, who pretty much wrote the book on that style of metal, fusing heavy with melodic. Cradle of Filth, Emperor - More black metal bands around than you can poke a stick at, and not a genre I'm really into, but try Immortal, Dissection, etc. Metallica, Pantera - I assume you're already listening to Slayer, Megadeth, etc so try the lesser knowns - Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Onslaught, Possessed, Kreator, Destruction, Accept, Sodom, Celtic Frost, Death Angel, Dark Angel... Pearl Jam - I always preferred Alice in Chains and Soundgarden from that genre. There's a whole mess of good bands from all genres in Australia too.

The clown who built that plane he died in should have been crucified, but the NTSB let him off - pilot error my ****... There is an interesting article about it here: http://www.asktog.com/columns/027Int...sThatKill.html That whole Ask Tog site is pretty cool - makes you think - for example: "When we create technologies where similar actions produce dissimilar results, such as placing a brake and accelerator pedal side-by-side, to be actuated in the identical manner by the identical limb, people will periodically die." http://www.asktog.com/columns/066Panic!.html |

Well said about RHCP's BSSM album, it is the renowned "must have" album for all drummers. The music since than is good, but more pop oriented rather than funk. I need to start listening to dream theather on the basis of how much I love watching Mike Portnoy crank it out on the kit, just awesome. I have a top DVD with many of the current greats doing 10 minute straight drum solos, it's bloody great. Actually, maybe you should take up a musical instrument. It will bring you to a new level of appreciation of what you already listen too and also help to open your mind to genre's you've never been interested in!
