I reckon you should get a EL wreck from the auctions. Grab the motor and sell the rest. You'll probably get your money back and then some.

I'll probably even buy the plastic c-pillar window mouldings if they are in good condition

Wouldn't it be better to get an EB/ED motor, as they have lower compression than the AU's? I could be wrong though. But yeh, as its already been mentioned, just get a replacement cobber, start fresh.. well kinda.

I'm thinking it's a busted the dizzy shaft or something, because Doug reckons the chain looks like it's going side to side as you crank the motor. The hole is in about the spot of the dizzy sprocket thing. That could also explain the very SLIGHT knock that comes and goes as you crank.

Just get your self another motor, plenty of engines at the wrckers that are still a1 condition, $400 you can get your self a ef xr6 engine with low ks
