Default Ford Capri Compliance plates

Hi i have a 1969 ford capri that has been used as a drag car for the last few years and as far as i know hasn't been registered for several years. I'm looking at selling it but the buyer asked me about a compliance plate for rego. I checked and it doesn't have one. I have been told that because they were imported they wont have one and also cars before 1972 didnt come out with them.
Anyone with any info would be a big help.
Thanks

Ford Capris from Jan/Feb 1970 onwards had compliance plates, while the 1969 Capris had a build plate that listed chassis number (which is made up of the prefix and serial number), SIDO number, model number and other various codes (engine, transmission, paint and trim). Both of these type of plates were attached by Ford Australia. A '69 Capri will have the chassis number (begins with CK) stamped to the rear of the bonnet locking mechanism, on the highest section of the slam panel.

I think you can get a car registered without either the build or compliance plate being affixed, but you'd need to confirm this with the relevant State/Territory RTA.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Here's my 1969 Capri By The Numbers file for your reference. It'll help to explain the Vehicle ID Plate that should be on the car! Cheers, Terry
