yeah, they are nice to drive too.
fibreglass body, rover V8, usually leather trim too there's no outer door handles on most, some have an electric button on the underside of the side mirrors to open the electric door latches. handbrake release is a bit of a search too first time you drive one, lol i've done some work on a few different TVR models now

Spotted in Noble Park and don't know what it is?
I'd say what it is is stolen. |

The straight 6 sounds unbelievable. I remember it from an old TopGear episode.

The TVR Griffith had a Ford 289 V8. Pedro Owen campagned one at Warwick Farm. The power to weight ratio made it a pretty quick car.

there were so many motor variations available in them, depends on what the buyer optioned
the speed 6, a couple of turbo models,the speed 12 v12 motor, v8's etc i worked at a Land Rover wreckers / repairer, so all the ones i saw/worked on were rover v8's, 3.9L, 4.0L, 4.5L http://www.getcarspecs.com/tvr

Princes Hwy/ Elonera Rd traffic lights: A favourite among illegal street drag racers and the scene of the appalling delinquent rampage sparked by a police bust/ defect handout in 2007. I happened to be passing thru right at the height of it and had 3 windows smashed in my EB with my screaming sisters in the back, it was the most terrifying thing we've experienced. The Maccas and the Dominos in the picture (blockbuster video at the time) were ransacked, looted etc. Here's the video clearly outlining the mentality of those involved and glorifying the "heroic" nature of their actions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_34u1lTpU0E Sorry for the rant and off topic post, but seeing this intersection gives me the creeps, just thought I'd share

One of the most beautiful, but yes, also unreliable and some very odd "quality" touches...but the wail of that straight six when it was all working properly...

All personal imports.
A scottish diesel mechanic I used to know brought out a mid 90's Chimaera... Used to use it as his daily drive, on permit, still running his pommy plates. Great car!

That explains it then. the import regs here are so strict it's mad. guess it's all geared towards keeping Australia's own car manufacturing industry going (and seems to work in fairness) which is what we don't have back in the UK as much anymore.. but at the same time, I couldnt beleive the price difference the taxes and rarirty of imports make.. I saw a 1998 chimera on sale here for about $40k - the same car costs about 5-8k back home (about $7-12k)
Similar to how the Nissan GTR costs about $200k here and about $72 in the UK! I guess with fuel being so cheap here though it balances it out a little... and I spose you don't need imports as much when you have companies like ford and holden making proper cars in the first place! The best of ford back home is the focus RS followed by the ST, and vauxhall (holden) come out with a few VXR's, only interesting ones being the VXR8 and the Monaro.. |

that makes me cry! $80k for a tuscan!! you'd get plenty of change from $30k if you shop hard enough in the UK! makes me wonder if its possible to buy one in a relative's name, have it insured for a year, then arrange a visa of some sort for them to come out, bring the car, then have them come and sign the paperwork and go home!
