Ute prices

Finishing my probationary license and getting my full license (at a discounted price for never receiving a demerit point has sparked an interest in a new car.

Been looking at Utes and BA's do nothing for me, and can't really afford a BF currently.

What i'm really after is an AU S3 XR6 manual ute, in white or blueprint, with the full tickford body kit and manual.

Something that has caught my eye, is that there is hardly any price difference between the AU utes and BA utes. Are these AU owners dreaming? Do utes really hold their value THAT well? Have people realised just how good the AU's are and that's why their prices are on par with BA's?

Yet to find an example on car sales or even ebay for what im after, they probably don't pop up for sale that often, perhaps that makes them rare?(expensive)

What are your opinions?

Should add this is not me having a whinge at the prices or what not, just an observation.

Have you looked at Pickles or Manheim Fowles auctions ?

just had a quick search then, are you able to test drive vehicles at these auctions

There is a bottom level and AUs and BAs and most before are there so unless the ute is something special they all just float about in the "I want a ute" market and as there are a lot less about than sedans they attract a higher price.

The Falcon with the highest percentage resale is the manual XR6 turbo ute (which is the majority of the reason why I bought one). Other cars may cost more second hand but these were far more expensive new.

I noticed the premium people were asking for AU XR version utes,and many just wernt selling,were price compared to the newer versions
I opted for the AU XLS ute tray back,most of the XR features,not all but enuf
3500 regoed,driveaway thats good enuf
But i hate how low they are,if i was buying now id go an RTV

i`m a fan of the the rtv, to keep it going ford oz should have just deleted the locking diff, or made it a cost option and kept the extra ground clearance, the xr utes are a good looking ute though.

No, but you can hear them running and you can crawl all over them before the auction
