I was pulled over today with the family in the car by a Motor bike cop who initially thought my 7 yo daughter was not wearing a seat belt. She was sitting in the back seat in her booster seat with her belt on.
When the cop came over to the car to check he saw the belt on, but he was not happy that it was going across instead of over her shoulder. When I turned around to view this for myself I had to agreed it was not right. I won't go in the detail of what happen with Cop other than he gave me a warning and I did get a lecture on child safety in cars. From my side I was very disappointed that I had not noticed this before as I always make make sure all my cars are well maintained and safe. The cause of the belt not fitting correctly and the message to other forum members is that children grow quickly and and what may have been a perfect fit for your child 1 year ago may not be okay now. The fix was as simple as releasing the velcro belt guide, which we used when she was smaller to stop the belt going across her neck. Now the belt goes perfectly over her shoulder. Hopefully this post is useful to guys and girls out there with young children travelling in you cars. |

So you had the saftey belt fitted incorrectly?
I always check the tension on the belt because kids grow up fast and the belt needs adjusting every now and then. |
