Default LT Duratec, engine no power.

Hi all, jus wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem, went for a drive up to the tablelands from cairns, the car was going fine, then no power no matter what I did to the accelerator the car just died on the hills. Pulled over and it smelt hot, even tho gauge was normal, but seemed not to bad on light throttle loads but just nearly cut out when throttle pressed. No fault codes, engine light working as it should, 76k. Had the car about a year now, always thought it was low on power! Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

So, definitely no error codes?

I had similar issue, and it was this ***** of a thing...

Have a dig through this, and you'll see a small vacuum module that is responsible for the butterfly valves in the throttle area.

I had p2008 error code, and soon as I changed it, car runs like a dream again.

Part is around $80 and easy to change yourself.

Yeah had the same problem with mine, as leaky pointed out above.

The problems started off as intermittent, then became more constant, and then the engine light finally came on.

Hi Leakey. I've not got a scan tool so not sure about error codes. But the light doesn't come on when it has the no power fault. I've looked all thru the posts on here and other sites and I've come up with the same idea that this is at fault. The reason is it'll drive fine on low throttle but when you apply power/press the pedal it dies, so it is vacuum related or so it seems. Hopefully my local dealer will have one of these in stock, going to blow all the lines out tmrw. Thanks for the reply.it never has gone very well, just wonder if this has been at fault?!

Hi, thanks for all the replies. Went to the local ford dealer they had the IMRC solenoid in stock, just put it on and it's all good. This must have been a minor problem for a long time as the car has never gone as well as this!! Well impressed thanks.

Oh great you got it sorted!

I couldn't clear that fault btw. My scanner still shows there WAS a fault, Mind you I only have a cheapie unit. DZ was saying it's a Ford only clear job.

I think it was oemdenied that stated that.

My scanner was able to clear the fault / check engine light thankfully.

Hi, I know this is an old post but I've now got the same problem. This post isn't even three years old, and it would seem these IMRC valves are playing up again.
