just installed these today and all i can say is im converted... absolutely love them, the washer pump makes more noise, the aircon makes more noise and i even tested them on a dry windscreen where the other aunger ones would squeek and youd be deaf
anyways i got the metal insert ones (pain in the ar5e to install) as it doesnt use a clip it use piece of metal to expand inside the rubber and make a tight fit. only $13.95 for them and $9.95 for the aunger well worth my money also flushed coolant and replaced with green this time to compare the dif...only improvement so far is the car feels smoother checked some prices on bosch leads and spark plugs and well thats gonna be next pay..dont which ones to go with, super 4?, platinum (with ytterium), iridium (wasnt on their website) anyways BUY bosch you'll be glad you did

This raises an interesting point. Some time ago, I was told to only buy the rubber inserts (with the metal strips), @$15 from Ford. The plastic backed type are too rigid & skip (hence the squeal). Try running your hand down the AU windscreen, @the centre you should feel a "valley" in the glass, in my experience, anything but the rubber type seem to miss this "valley" & never appeared to do a neat job. Personally, I would never go back to the aftermarket type.
Can't recall if they made my air-con & washers louder though :

I put Tyco ones in the Territory, and they have been fine for the last few days (we have had more rain in the last four days, than in the preceding month). I always do the cartridge, not just the rubber, as I stuffed the windscreen in my EF because of them.
I would have bought Bosch, however Repco didn't have them.

I'm well overdue for new wiperblades as well. Mine just smear way too much, and it does a pathetic job of getting water off the windscreen.

I had those bosch leads and super 4 sparkies in the EB. No problems. The wiper blades are good too.

I got the silicone ones from Aunger once and was suprised at the racket they make on semi-wet windscreens, horrendous racket! For some reason I'm of the opinion that they have added more webbing to the windscreen.
So I went to Autone and got the regular rubber ones, I think Trico, the fella behind the counter said its the one used by the vehicle manufacturers. What can I say? It leaves a puddle type thing on the lower portion of the screen and leaves a very thin film of water on the screen, which is just annoying. The silicone ones worked a treat the in the rain, but caused an embarresing racket in the semi wet and I think they webbed up the screen.

I dont have any problem with wiper blades. I use Rain X to compliment the wipers.
I only use wipers for light rain when the drops are to small to run up the windscreen. Heavy rain and the Rain X does all the work.

I put on the Aunger rubber ones (inserts only) on a few weeks ago and they work really well. Much better than the originals that made a lot of noise jumping across the windscreen right from the start.
Bit worried about the plastic breaking though on the Aungers, that FalconSR mentioned. |
