No - I don't have a spare... or even a spot to put it! That is taken up by the mufflers....
Instead I get a jack, two cans of foam and 3 year 24 hour road side assistance. Great :(

Yep , spares in all (5) of our cars (6 spares for the FC , but very perished)
In 1974 a mate & I drove from Sydney to Perth & back , in the middle of the Nullabour Plains here's a guy in beat up EJ wagon parked on the side of the road (unwritten law , always stop to check out there) yep he had a flat alright , but no jack, no wheelbrace , pulled the spare out, worn out re-cap 1/2 inflated and cap lifting , checked his other tyres and they were the same. Also in the car was his wife & 3 kids approx 4-8 yrs old . He had NO water for car OR drinking , 1 bottle of "Fanta" (small) for the kids , NO food, NO spare fuel , so we gave him 5L of water , chips for the kids , & changed his tyre. In those days there was 270 miles of dirt road in the middle. How crazy would you have to be to go for a trip like that with your family in the car ? ?

Yeah I carry one but the stupid mags that came with my car make it very difficult to access the wheel nuts with stocko tyre iron. So its somewhat pointless that I carry a spare.
Oh and I can't believe we've run 4 pages and nobody's mentioned safety triangles yet!!!

Because when this thread is finished we can open up another with that heading and get another 4 pages out of it and some one can reach their 1000 post with either a yes or no. :

my 18" rims dont fit in my boot (well in the stock tyre hole) but then again the stocker 16" wont even fit over my back brakes, so really its a waste anyway! gotta love that "run flat" foam 5h1t! Works for me!

Yes. I always carry one.
I average a flat about every 12-18 months, and it's usually after hours so I can't get to a tyre shop, or I'm travelling outside the metro area. Spare is essential. |

I carry one...
have all 5 matching alloys (the 16" 5spoke EBII option ones..) and has been in there since i got the car with good tread on it.. Had it on my car over a weekend when my tire went down at about 100km/h .. turned out to be a $5 valve... My sister and her boyfriend got ****** over with his car, 2000 s15 200sx, had all kinds of crazy lock nuts on it and the car didnt come with all the lock nut tools.. they had to drive it about 7km on completely flat tire to get it back to our place to get the wheel off.. completely ****** the tire.. turns out whoever put the lock nuts on it had either replaced a stud or just ****** the thread because it had a different thread on it :| |

yes i always carry one and make sure any car i sell has one fitted with wind up jack and handle, (i get wind up jacks at those tip scrounge shops whenever i see one)only cost about a dollar or two,and if i have mags that the factory wheel brace does not fit then i chuck a socket and breaker bar in boot with the spare, i have had plenty of flat tyres over the years and often in bad or inconvenient areas, i find it amazing there is so many on here who dont have a spare,
i think its very foolish unless there is a good reason not too, there is lots of situations where you cant just drive on the rim to tyre place.

Always have carried a spare... I don't waste time when a tyre does get punctured. A quick swapover is better than waiting 1 hour for NRMA to come to your aid.

Have a spare in all 3 cars.
I'd take it out if heading to the drags or something, but the extra weight makes up for the convenience on the long trips. If I only drove around town, I'd probably leave the tyre at home. |

I carry a spare and jack all the time.
I figure it can come in very handy in bad situations and im not doing anything with the hole anyways, so i may as well stick the spare in it.

i would think that anyone with a wheel well is probably carrying a spare unless they have some reason not to. those of us with older cars without a wheel well may not be, or only on long trips ,my spare takes up half the boot (1970 mustang). carry the foam stuff but have doubts over whether it would work if i needed it
if you have a wheel well and dont carry one, that i cant really understand, although i'm sure ive done it at some stage myself. |

im up and down the freeway atleast once a week, usually night so getting a flat halfway up would be a pain so wouldnt think about taking it out. In the ute its under the back anyway so out of sight out of mind!

In most states except vic it is unroadworthy to not carry a spare right? and a unroadworthy car is not insured right? I'll keep my spare, and my insurance.
This whole i never use it so i won't carry it. What about hazard lights? i can't remember last time i used them so do i take out the switch? I carry a fire exstinguisher in my boot too, do i remove that cause in the last 10 years of driving i have never had to use it? I will admit people that live in and around the suburbs and never stray into the country side, most times you can get away without one, But i always go for cruise's out to the country and surrounds its not worth the 60-100km walk sometimes to get a spare for the car. My 2 cents: :MrT_anim: that doesn't carry a spare bwahahahahhaah

i have two spares in the boot. When i got the tyres changed i put the old ones in the boot and havnt bothered to take them out. Plus it makes the car look lower : , not that it makes a big difference though.

yeah I have my spares because I am required to by law and because I need the car to be roadworthy for insurance as stated previously.
