This is tragic. The father needs to judged & sentenced accordingly.

i am a parent and have also lost a little one and i am still horified at the events of this morning.

the area that the brave paramedics and police officers were working to resusitate the girl is an area i regularly do my security patrols for the port of melbourne.

lucky for me im not working today and lucky enough not to be the one who found her (i have on previous occasions where adults have jumped).

i called work after learning of this today and everyone is sick to there stomach and very upset as everyone would be being this is an innocent child.

for too long now the state government has been sitting on there hands about putting up anti jumper barriers on the westgate bridge (like they have on the gateway in brisbane), in saying that i implore all peole to lobby and email the state government demanding these barriers be put in place.

i dont think it is too much to ask as there is almost 1 jumper a week of the westgate, you dont here about it much but i do all the time and my work mates usually are close by when one drops.

Horrible. How can a father do that, no matter what. Lack of ability to comprehend..

I understand that and you're probably right, I was just thinking that with THAT much traffic and people's propensity to rubberneck that someone would've noticed.

I didnt realise that you knew it was drugs and depression that kicked in for the horrendous act to happen, just pointing out Hawthorn is a more affluent, well educated and financially secure area of Melbourne....its a long way from the Western Suburbs

Doesn't make me sick so to speak, but I am not happy about it.
Why should the Australian taxpayer have to foot the bill for pooeaters like these people who commit such hideous acts?

Very, very sad. I'm just lost for words I have a four year old girl and I can't believe a father would do that to his child. Rest in peace little angel, you are in a far better place now but it's a terrible shame your life was snuffed out like this.

I just read this on the internet and it made me sick. I have three nieces and I just cannot comprehend how you could do this to a child. So terribly sad. I hope this monster is put away for the rest of his life.

Still in shock. My thoughts for the other two children that possibly saw this and if not they have surely learned of it now. What hope do they have of growing up unaffected by this.
I am going home early now to hug my little ones.

Absolutely disgusting. Probably depression and retaliation towards the wife would have had something to do with it, but why make the children suffer for his own feelings? So unfair to do such an act. Makes it harder to bear when you have kids of your own too

So sad. Is it bad to hope that he finds a way to do himself in? Or is that the easy way out. The prison population doesn't like kid killers.

Heard this on the radio on the way home.
I did hear on this morning's radio road report, that a car was half way up the Westgate and stopped. But didn't think twice about it.

I would assume that the guy just flipped as something didn't go his way in the dispute.
But to take your own child and literally dump the child over a bridge is horrendous to think.
As in the song by the BoomTown Rats "The silicon chip inside her head, gets switched to overload" ring true in this story.

My wife and I have tried for over 10 years to have kids without success, and this guys just wastes a child's life, just like that.
Does not deserve to have children in my eyes. He will be very much loved in prison.

So very sad.
