Each to their own. Having something different on a car, makes it stand out from the crowd. If it wasn't for this, we'd all be driving round in the same looking cars all the time.
BTW. I have an XBGS bonnet crafted into a 6 cyl VC Crappadore. It's function. To make the car stand out in the crowd. I also have a Valiant bonnet the same too. Don't know whether to bolt it onto the 6 cul one, or V8one.

the problem with being different, is that you are never different for long.
im sure if someone in a commodore decided gluing a toilet seat / esky lid to their bonnet was cool, thered be 1000's of them done within days. Quote:

I dont like it, doesnt mesh with the rest of the VE shape, not to mention all the other model commodores.
Not keen.

What about the "shaker" put on the B series Falcons. The original shaker from the XY was to allow more air into the carb. For the B series falcon, it's there purely for show.
I have to disagree slightly with O8ESE. The bonnet mods I have done I have never seen on another Crappadore or Valiant yet. I would be more than happy for someone to post a picture up of one jsut for my benefit. Problem these days, with bonnet scoops or spoilers is, the majority of them are massed produced, so every man and his dog can put them on their car. Unfortunately, the days of metal panel modifications are long gone. Yes, there are still a few knowledgeable craftsmen out there, but it's becoming a dying art.

Autobarn has them on special in this months catalog. Give it a month and you'll see more bonnets mod than hoods to put them on.

I always love seeing central forward facing bonnet scoops of various designs on little front wheel drive cars...or Falcons and Commodores for that matter.
What exactly are they "feeding air" to??? The airboxes are all down the front left or right corner of the bonnet...what's it there for??? |

You lot think the VE Walky/HDT/whatever bonnet is bad...
Theres a black F6 with one of these in WA. Saw it at XFT one day after hearing about it...I'll look for pics if I get time.

It's not as bad as what i saw today.
A Hyundai iLoad (white van with half a dozen fog lights/nudge bar) with a carbon look STI bonnet scoop - the really big one from the last model. Definitely stood out for a van!

Well the pic is blurry as **** but here it is anyway. I think there's a better one around but no idea which thread it was in. You'll have to take my word for it, much like the Loch Ness monster.

The WP bonnet "thing" just looks wrong - the front is pointy so it mismatched with the VE nosecone and the bits sticking out at the back? WTF are they for? Unfortunately the blue camp have had a similar ugly "WTF??" plastic thing on the DJR 320... Why can't designers have some smarts about them and look to the way the Yanks have done their bonnet scoops/bulges - think Cobra R, 2007 + Shelby GT500, the new Camaro & Dodges. The bonnets are smooth, sleek & look like they were suposed to be there - not a ****y add on.

Not sure why people complain about crappydores with bonnet bulges, realistically Holden/Walkinshaw/HSV had them before Ford ever thought about them, so there was probably a thread on Holden Forums about us copying them.
Ford Drivers are still putting bulges and shakers on plenty of cars where it has no point to be there. I recon it's worse putting shakers on anything that wears a Ford badge, shakers are so wrong on anything apart from an XY GT, worst of all B series Falcons where they get glued on top of the engine and basically point at the ground. |

im not one to knock other peoples rides. but imho this is the problem with people and their holdens. they have to many lairy plastic spoilers all over them that spoil the car. where as a ford usually comes from the factory and is kept factory looking.

Plenty of Holdens come from the factory with spoilers. Just have a look at you're local dealer for the heck of it.
