Just got back from Panthers watching the game.. heh.

I'm not even a follower or major fan of soccer but that's one of the best matches of ANY sport i've ever seen..

Being in an environment like we were though definitely helps.. the cheers, the shock when jap scored, the hate and insults thrown at the ref (as tho he could hear them haha).. the dejection as people all but gave up with 10 minutes or so to go.. the unbelievable roar when we scored.. the disbelief mixed with the roar when we scored again.. and the shouts of "What the _ _ _ _ ?!" when we scored AGAIN.. haha

Brilliant, is all I can say

I just got back from the city (Sydney) the entire place was a standstill so everyone just got out of their cars & started dancing & singing. Was an unbeleivable experience & about to time. The sleeping giant has awakened at last.

I just wanna say im proud of the guys after that win. Forget the inter code bitching this is the most "world" cup of any, and here we are competing at it.

When we scored to equalise I yelled out YES out of sheer joy that woke the wife up. Now thats something special!

The best thing about the win is the goal differential as that may be needed to see us through. Keep the goal differential down v brazil and come out all guns blazing vs Croatia.

What a top win. Japan shouldnt have been allowed their goal!

Good to see the umpire appologising after he saw the replay.

Go you mighty socceroos!!!!

The only problem I have with soccer is that usually a fair chunk of the game is incredibley boring.

Hence why I went to bed; spewing now though.

Soccer is my sport of choice. But I am open minded and do follow other football competitions. Unfortunately a lot of supporters of the other football competitions aren't as open minded towards soccer. That is what annoys us soccer supporters - their bigotry.

Can't beleive I went to bed with 10 minutes left of the game. I was getting too worked up and thought aussies were going to lose so I went to bed. Couldn't beleive it when I heard on the radio that aussies won 3-1. Holy crap I am so regretting going to bed now.
And Now for Brazil.......

Amazing.

I thought the best soccer match (have only been interested in it for about 4 years now) I had seen was the Urugauy v Australia qualifier, and to a lesser extent Liverpool vs Westham in this years FA Cup final, but that takes the cake.

Simply ridiculous, the whole pub was down, people were saying 'if we lose this it's over' etc etc at the 80th minute mark, the BANG, we scored out of nowhere, and the minutes later, twice more!

Being in a pub with about 100 other aussies just going crazy is a memory I will take to the grave, bloody fantastic!

You poor fool. Narrow minded? Try AFL buddy. Never seen a more arrogant bunch of supporters in any code. And you must be just talking to the worst of the bunch, I for one support almost every sport this earth posses except for AFL and Lawn Bowls. And I'm assuming your Canadian from your Avatar, surely you would know something about a competition that's ridiculed and pushed aside by all forms of media, but continues to run strong anyway coz the fans don't give 2s what the majority say.

Wasnt a bad game.
Italy actually attack now (like in 1982), not just sit back and defend (thank heavens)
Whats the use of having of all these great strikers and attacking midfielders if u dont use them?

But i Would have tried to shut down the ghana midfield more.

It was good to see the Yanks get done convincingly after their coach was badmouthing other teams.

Czechs were awesome.

I thoroughly enjoyed that game and result. The body language from the coach of the USA team was pure apathy.

I cant believe it! That was magic! I was fuming over the up from the ref I nearly threw the TV out the window. I was so happy when Cahill got his first, I was so relieved that we were going to get at least a draw out of it after what had happened, then that stunner of a 2nd goal I think I was half the neighbourhood up and that 3rd by Aloisi was just icing on the cake.

They were (probably) lucky to get out of the situation they were in, but by god they deserved it! Had they come out of the game with a loss or even a draw it would have been daylight robbery.

If Australia grab a point out of the next two matches they could be going to the round of 16.

Theres a full replay at 5pm on SBS.

GO AUSTRALIA! JOHNNY TOLD YOU SO!
