Its not stating its a required field? Its just to verify its actually you. usually you can chose other verification options.

MyGov is the best thing the Government has done in a long time, its a shame its not performing with the load.

How were you doing your tax then?

Your shares would have something to do with your income and assets. It would be coming up as part of data matching.

FYI I just logged into myGov and the intent to claim form is there on the home page.

I believe you register and they get back to you which I assume is done in the processing area rather than those who would be taking calls at the first level.

If you need to do POI this link is handy. They have already changed the process to do this over the phone instead of lining up.

It's the only 3 fields available.

No choice to ask different questions.

When I answer all 3 questions I can't progress because I didn't get enough right.

Which is also a joke because that means 2 out of 3 have to be correct (my number and share code) but apparently not.

Only shares I have are Virgin Blue - now Virgin Australia Holdings.

And I also called them to confirm the qty I have.

I can't find anyone else that has been asked such an obscure question to ID themselves.

I do my tax through my accountant but ATO is already linked to MyGov.

At this point in time the question is being used to ID myself.

Much the same as when they ask your mother's maiden name or the name of the street you grew up on.

They could have asked a less obscure question.

Yes, I did the intent to claim this morning.

I think Afterpay will tank in the coming months.

While they have some money in the bank they also have a ton of money owing to them which will probably never be paid while the customers already have their goods.

Awesome, i'll be able to get in even cheaper

The market is almost as volatile as bitcoin right now, really interesting to watch and i'm just waiting patiently. This recovery in the last couple days is interesting, time will tell but I think the way the US is treating the virus it will plunge some more yet, but seriously who knows right now

Been wanting to play with shares for a while, took the plunge yesterday. Made $740 net profit in a single day. Now's the time to buy I think. My biggest movers are APT, CCP, GTK, SGR - All jumped 20%+ in the past 24 hours

I think we are happy to just play it out a bit. If things escalate then I cant see it getting better, we are looking more medium term.

There has been good gains in the last 3 days but it only takes one bit of bad news to wipe those gains. Don't think we have reached the bottom yet.........

I haven't cashed in, if that's what you mean. I'm up to $1500+ profit this morning, not a bad 36 hours so far.

* Rent / lease payments
* Shares / stock market transactions
* Property transactions
* Tax office payments / returns processing
* All fees / charges for living (rates, school, tax, water, electricity, power).

However we were able to still access pay should we be entitled to it, drawn from LSL / sick pay etc

Those that have money in Super able to get it with minimal fuss (10% or $10k, whichever is higher)

Those on benefits remain, those that need them apply and get them within 2 weeks.

So, essentially we freeze everything for 6 months (minimum) with the promise that once this is over we start to reply everything by adding a premium of 15% to what we didn't pay till we catch up.

We allow people to have money to live as a minimum. If they can do more then they elect to. If they can't then they have a minimum standard that will allow them to eat and have a roof over their head till things blow over.

I don't know... just thinking out aloud. This will pass and eventually life will return to normal. The pain is in the transition between now and when that happens.

Seems we are struggling due to lack of income or expenses we can't pay for.

I looked into the situation regarding accessing your Super. Not till mid April.

Why mid April?? It's just mind boggling that something that could be processed within a day needs such a drawn out delay...

I think a lot of people will breath easier knowing they have the security of a roof over their head and money to survive while waiting for this to blow over.
Well... it seems that this is getting closer day by day. The fancy speakers are calling it a 'cryogenic freeze' or similar.

If we freeze ALL financial transactions other than welfare payments and spending on essentials we can get through this better than most other countries.

What do you use to trade shares. A stockbroker, or can shares be traded online like crypto?

Looking to get into the market as it's a good time to get on board once everything has sunk.

Just a thought. The over 60 seem to be the most effected by this virus. That being the case, why doesn't the federal government make it a policy that every person over 60 MUST self isolate immediately?? Wouldn't that make more sense than shutting the entire country down? Keep the elderly at home, and the 59 and under population still go to work - where possible??

Yes, there are plenty of 60+ still in the workforce. More than likely, in an higher position of employment (Supervisor, Manager, CEO, Admin, Executive, etc, etc) than the average younger person. But most of those jobs surely can be done by working from home?? There are also plenty of 60+ in other employment, but they will also have to bear the burden just as the plenty of young casuals (15-25) who have now lost their jobs. The difference being the 60+ would be in a much better place financially.

I would also think, asking the 60+ to isolate, would help with the infection rate, and consequently help with the control of the situation in hospitals.

Thoughts??

Thanks. What does the graph look like for the death age range? In Australia? And around the world?

edit: Cannot find any data for Australia. But the graphs below are figures from Italy and China.

We know that the elderly are overwhelmingly the most effected or die. The time to rule by exception is looking like a long time ago now. The younger people are they are obviously more likely to be infected and spread than the elderly. That is no surprise at all.

Remember deaths are final. They're easy to deal with, doesn't take anyone to look after them.

It's the sick which is a burden.

I can't find anything recent, but even two weeks ago italy had 13000 patients hospitalized with corona and 2000 critical.

So the dead do not get sick before they die?? They don't need looking after before they die??
