Keep it, & make sure it ain't rusting underneath. A vinyl roof is something different these days as others have said

Looks sweet by they way!

I had an HX Statesman DeVille when i first got my license, and I was going through the same thoughts, I wanted to repaint the whole car in a nice black or something, and everybody, said i should take it back to it's original DeVille blue, and put a new cream colored vinyl roof on it, which I did, and if only I had the $ at the time to have new chrome bits - but i never regretted going the vinyl option.

Sorry mate, but whilst admitting your spelling mistake you also spelt missus wrong or Mrs. (misses is like when you aim for the bowl and your missus says "He misses all the time").
But we're not all perfect, my maths is crap.

Back to the car, I don't ordinarily like vinyl rooves/roofs, but it does look good on your car.
I say keep it, just make sure it isn't a magnet for rust underneath.

Keep it .. all the best musclecars including the awesome Hemi 'Cuda and Aussie GTs, had it as an option. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Just make sure there is no rust under there ..

And if you re-paint it put the black stripes down the side. White XY's look way tougher with black side stripes.

Like this one.

I would like to lose the scoop, but the 2 carbies protruding past the bonnet stop me from running the shaker.

Yes it is the car that runs at benaraby all the time and I live at Gladstone.

Gino...

Yeah, keep it for sure.
I'm in the opposite predicament with my XY. After getting all the info on mine from Ford, it's supposed to have option "08 -Beige vinyl roof", yet it hasn't. Someone before me has removed it.
It'll be going back on when I get the chance.

Yes the XY pictured above with the black stripe is a genuine car. It was a delete stripe xy gt which has the correct delete stripe type fender badges on it.

Keep the roof, but check it out for rust. You don't see to many vinyl roofs these days, and they look good on 70s cars.
