I have try putting in a au2 dash into au1 before. Every thing work but it wouldn't turn over I don't know if had to do with the key barrel been change or ecu, bem.

at $350 seem like a good price with airbag and wiring loom etc.

I think the BEM has to be reset to the car or something like that.

Seems like a good price at $350 - you could buy it and sell off the cluster and a few things and more than make your money back.

It will fit, but I believe some of the wiring is different from Au1 to AU2/3. Not only that, but it's a pretty damn big job!

I've did alot of searching last night to see if it has been done before and looks like it can be. Just got to tow it to ford after it done to un-lock the bem with a new key barrel. But I'll talk to ford first before I do it.

it will work but is a big job time wise but you will need a non vct series 2 (smartshield)ecu. the ecu in your car is smart lock and the one with the dash will be VCT as it is a ghia. then you will need to get the bem learnt to the ecu with a parameter reset either at ford or some mechanics that have the right computer. you will also need a few bits and pieces for the climate control that are attached to the heater/AC and the passenger side mirror as it has the ambient sensor. like I said big job

yes the left hand mirror .one other thing as this is wired for traction control you'll need a ghia engine harness and T/C ABS unit

No worries mate. I've been researching a bit too, as I'm considering doing the same thing. I have every part I need, but I can see it's not going to be an easy 1 dayer!

No worries! I'm going to do the rest of the interior first (because I'm slack and that part's much easier) and then I'll see how I feel about touching the dash!

yes any Smartshield ECU will do it but it needs to be trained to work with the bem this can only be done with the right scan tool if you can get an ECU out of an XR with the HP engine it will give you the more agressive engine parameters and adaptive shift i did this to mine and fitted the HP cam

At the moment I've got an s3 engine with xr fuel rail so xr ecu would be great just got to upgrade the cam.
