I think it's going to be great. A total "re-boot" of the franchise, much in the same vein as Batman Begins.

I got excited just watching the trailer. Can't wait!

Bring it on..... Most of us were too young to remember the Original series as new episodes. This looks to be the start of a long adventure. The trailer looks great, and I look forward to the release.

Star trek, I believe, went far to "airy fairy" "star wars" with TNG, DS9 and Voyager due to the real world influences of the period. Political correctness at warp factor 9.
The later Enterprise series had far more depth and synergy to current reality with the characters behaving in a far more human and less altruistic manner (well the human ones anyway) and the technology being far less reliable or stable than the above.

The new movie, I suspect, is an attempt to expand the characters of Kirk, Spock et al by depicting their early years, interactions and the sociatal conditions that allowed then to become the icons of human spirit depicted in TOS and the first 6 movies.

It should be quite good as long as they don't lose the plot.

I agree it's a good direction to take. Just not convinced on the casting. Spok and Kirk doesn't seem to be right. Pretty baseless judgement from just a movie trailer i know. I just hope it's not the case when it's released.

I think it's a mistake to go backwards. IMO they screwed James bond and looks like this too. Star Trek lost me at the enterprise series, Voyager was great, DS9 was ok, but Sisco is boring, Next Generation was once again ok but Picard never did anything for himself, Picard was a wus. Both the original Kirk and Janeway went where angels fear to tread.

Tend to disagree there a little.

Being somewhat of a trekkie, yeah ok laugh u may, but Voyager was significant to it's success (the latter of the Trek franchise).

TNG was just a stepping stone, took me a while to like it, but after season 1, I got into it.
Voyager, ruled.
DS9 well a spin off of Voyager, it did lack somewhat good intentions. But had some good plots.
Enterprise, well that was like going from windows 2000 to XP. Definately a different kettle of fish, I didn't like it at the start, but I did watch some episodes, which were good, but not enough to keep good faith.
When it's called "enterprise", unfortunately it's got a namesake to live up to.

It was a bit like watching "farscape". I am a sci-fi lover, but even farscape sent me over the wall.

Trailer 1 = Not enough content, but leads a lot to imagine about
Trailer 2 = Looks great, yes definately a ep 1 and ep 2 of the star wars type of feel. I've always wondered if they ever were going to venture the "before" for Kirk and Spock.

All these movies these days, seems now to follow a trend, as Lucas started a trend.
Make a movie in the core of what you are tring to tell, if they like it, then you can explore the latter stages (sequels etc).
Then everyones minds go on asking "what happened before, how did they get there"??

So to make lots of $$$, make your movie saga a threequel = Core -> Later -> Earlier

Hopefully Bana does a good character and not bring the aussie to shame ;)

I finally got to see the new 'trailer' It looks interesting but I'll wait till I see it next year to give more of my opinion. However, I'm already a bit wary of this new movie due to it being done by the 'Lost guy' J.J. Abrams. I'm not really a fan of his work.

I LOVE Sci-Fi and all things Star Trek though so will see it anyway even if it does turn out to be a bit 'iffy'.

BTW, DS9 came out in 1993 and was the first Trek series after Next Generation, then Voyager came along in 1995, then Enterprise in 2001. Then.... well the end of the 'Trek' road till now!

Also, we get to see Eric Bana as the Romulan bad guy. It's good to see this very talented comedian/actor doing well. He's come a long way since his early days in Full Frontal :P

Ok, Nerd rant over

You do realise that her boobs are fake and built into the borgsuit. Look at her real ones in "Boston Public". Nice but not spectacular.

Understand, but hey, we are on topic of "Star Trek" aren't we?
And it's the Star Trek view I'm coming from and sticking to it. ;)

Always wondered how she didn't have "headlights" switched on at all. Was hoping they would get into a cold or wet scene to see what happened ;) Thanks for the heads up tho.
I seen that pic, and boy couldn't resist ;)

I just hope they have a good plot to the movie. You can have all the stars you want, but without a good story for the actors to fill in, it will hard to justify a great release.

Just like, I just like DS9, but love Voyager. Even though it's the same genre, DS9 rates differently (lower) because of certain stories just don't carry with the actors.
*Cross fingers*

EDIT:
Arhhhh, just found this, boy, so close, but yet so far! Hoping she would jump into a "star shaped figure".
*waits for that moment, and thinks it could be like women on trampolines like on the Man Show*
