Default HSV E3 (Series 3)

Hi Guys,

Just stumbled across some new TM's registered by GM:

TM 1342237 - E3 E SERIES 3

Also possibly of interest in another TM:

TM 1342238: HSV EDT

Even though this (HSV EDT) is registered as a vehicle (as well as advertising relating to motor vehicles), I doubt it is a model, rather a new feature (ie: AFM, SIDI, etc)

E3 would mean they're keeping the VE model a bit longer, why release E3 so soon after E2?

Holy crap the VE is going to be older than Jesus when the E3 gets released! The E2 only just got released and everyone is over the VE 4 years on!

EDT: Engine Destroyed Totally? Engine Detonation Trigger?

Seriously though, Id say it would be some fuel efficiency BS thought up by HSVs' marketing department.

Just imagine in 20 years when we're flying around in hover cars and the VE E23 is still plodding around with AFM, SIDI, ABS, IRS, RTS, ESP and whatever other abreviations they can come up with.

Electronic Damper Tuning .... something to do with those electro-magnetic dampers other manufacturers have been using, that HSV toyed with on top-line models, maybe becoming a run of the mill option or feature spread wider across the range - can't be a bad thing for them if it is.

look back through Holden history.
They do it every series.

We have a 2000 VT -Series 2 and we also had a 2001 VX which was a Series 2 as well.

In the space of 1 year, they did a whole model and a series 2.
Some things stay the same.

Didn't Valiant have a VF model 40 years ago?
I think they'll choose a different model designation for their next big release.

Holden did release a VG (VN Commodore ute), but they probably would've already changed over to the MY** formula

Holden already used the E-Series 40+ years ago. EK, EJ and EH.

A VK Valiant too...

Then it changed from Valiant brand to Chrysler brand, otherwise the last two models CL (and CM), would have been called VL (and VM).

I cant see any registration for E2 series, however I found E series (1).

E Series: 28 MAR 2006 (Lodgment Date).

Going by wiki, the Sedan was first released in July 2006.

If you want to assume that an E3 will follow the same release schedule (to TM Register) you will be looking at a May/June Release...

I thought Holden was going to use an American-style model year system? I'm pretty sure that they have reffered to the current VE as a MY2010 in at least some of their literature?

E3... Feels like only yesterday they released the E2, Expect E3 with updates around FGII, will be interesting to see what the GM parts bin can bring to the table.
