Default Wheels stolen from BA GT (Melbourne)

My mate last night had his new wheels stolen from his BA GT. He got home in Narre Warren this morning and found his car on blocks. The wheels had lock nuts but didnt stop the bastards. If anyone has any info please contact me via pm me or on 0401 078 263.

Please see pics below.

Jules.

Thieving Scumbags...

Any noticable marks on the alloys? How is the tread on them? Also, is that a jack under the Drivers side rear? Because that may have fingerprints on it that are identifiable...

The wheels are only a couple of months old so virtually new. Just bricks/blocks under the rotors.

should have kept the stokies... but far from my opinion what is with these scumbags, maybe if we had some decent penalties for these people it wouldnt happen as much... and locknuts??? well you can always find people on forums to give you tips when you "loose" your lock nut key

yer unfortunetly lock nuts are pretty much useless since all you need is a certain diameter socket and a hammer and your wheels are as good as gone.

I'll keep an eye out.... Shouldn't be hard to be spotted, as there is a blue stripe inside the rim? Or is that the reflection of the caliper?
Can't understand how no-one seen this?

But, I never park my car on nature strips for this reason. The risk factor doubles or triples when it's out there, from being inside the property.

When I was in England, I hired an Audi, it has special wheel nuts. Hire company said, "if I get a flat, ring Audi's roadside service, they have to change the wheel." Don't know if Audi OZ is the same.be a nuisance across the Nullabor!!

I bought Gorilla lock nuts. No socket etc will get them off. My fear now is I will lose the key/lug. Getting a spare from the US company is a very hard task outside the US.

Just got rid of a set of lock nuts ... with a 19mm impact deep socket ... cos the key went missing.

Never have locknuts again ... can cause more damage than what it is worth.

As mentioned ... if someone wants your wheels ... they'll get them ... regardless.

I had a great set I bought from autobarn. They have a domed top so you cant smack a socket on to them. Their weakness, though, is the little pins it uses to drive the nut.
I had a douche at a local tyre joint put mine on so tight that the key broke trying to get them off. I got a new key from the manufacturer, but it quickly broke too.
I ended up having to drill the studs on three of the 4 wheels. Major pain in the you know what, but good in a way, sort of.
Will I use those locknuts again? no way.

That sucks! But those saying Gorilla lock nuts cant be removed without a key are dead wrong! I lost the key for mine, called up the American company with the code to order a new one but they sent the wrong one so i modified a socket to fit. Took all of 10 mins to remove all 4 Gorilla lock nuts...

When I bought my car the dealer put on locknuts without me asking. I've been wondering whether or not I should leave them on. Then again, mine are only the stock XR50 rims.

I do remember hearing some years ago that thieves tried to still some wheels but they had locknuts. So they proceeded to break into the car as well looking for the locknut key.

So if someone wanted to steal my wheels, they'd probably do the same thing. Hmmm.

How do you modify a socket to suit? done and dusted including taking the nuts off in 10 minutes?

Hold slightly undersized socket over locking nut, bash with big hammer, remove nut.

You are talking about these? http://www.gorilla-auto.com/gorilla-guard-locks
They are not normal wheel lock nuts.

I bought my car with gorilla locknuts fitted and no key supplied. Just used a thin wall socket, hit it in and off they come
