Default CO2 emissions . what's yours ?. do you care ?

Guess we're not a terribly "green" bunch here but i thought I'd have a look at my XT's CO2 emissions.
Plugged in OBD adapter using bluetooth and Torque Pro App and here's what I got.

Intake temps were nice and low too around 24-26c, went upto 64c sat in traffic !!

Obviously this info is from the cars's ECU....... I haven't had it professionally tested.
Very interesting to note my old ford is "greener" than the new Series 2 Commodore
I'll be converting to E85 soon to see how it improves.
Chuck up some results from your motors if you can

Don't know. No longer care. While country's like mexico china ect continue to pump out massive amounts of pollution i don't see the point in me caring about what i contribute. I don't run a cat on my car. Took it off. DON'T CARE.
I'm in tassie and we don't have the huge fines vic does. Not to mention a cop went over my car and even checked the exhaust yet didn't even pick up that the cat was not there.

Don't care less. My footprint would be tiny compared to most people anyway. My old truck was a diesel land cruiser. Kept it in good nick so it didn't smoke a lot. Standard diesel cloud on start up but otherwise minimal.

You know what else annoys me? Fuel consumption. If you buy a new car then why do you need less than 9L/100km? I read the Royle Auto and it seems like this is one of the most important things when people look to buy a new car. Why?

My 2003 BA on gas will be cheaper to run than a Getz or even probably a Hybrid thing.

I don't care about mine either. We have pretty clean air in Australia, and I'm not a believer in man-made climate change personally (leave that to the volcanoes).

Agree. It's funny when they go on and on about global warming " we did this we did that! the temps have gone up because of us!
Then you see in the paper..." hottest day since 1923 " Oh right? So it was just as hot in 1923 then there was stuff all pollution? Good one.
Then we have 2012 Yep thats our fault to. What a crock, gee MAN think they are soooo bloody brilliant don't we. that's why we send million dollar rockets into space that end up blowing up anyway. Could you imagine the lives that could of been saved with that money? Billions of dollars now....up there.
So when it comes to my CAT not being there...I DON'T CARE EITHER.

Like it or lump it, we have a Carbon tax, albeit one that has compensation
returning money back to consumers but what happens when the music stops?

The Henry Tax review has already recommended equalizing Fuel excise across all fuels,
how long will a government with a carbon tax agenda ignore the LPG cash cow?

I had to work this out for one of my subjects at uni this year. Thanks to LPG I had the lowest CO2 emissions in the class (also using the manufacturers fuel usage is handy, otherwise it'd be a bit more..). The lecturer loved me, didn't have the heart to tell him it was because I wanted to save cash, not the environment...
At the end of the day, powering your house uses more CO2 than your average daily kms will. Well. For me anyway.

Don't see the point when the rich and famous can go out and a Fezza Lamborghini or Bently that can belch out as much as three small to medium size cars. I'm sure they don't sleep at night. While the majority are supposed to tow the line and save the environment. Maybe we can take a V8 Supercar off the road and save the planet.

That's why your CO2 was low.

If you care about the environment plant a tree. If you want to drive a big block supercharged methanol funny car just plant a forest.

Drive what you want. It's not the car necessarily which has caused the pollution, it's the lack of trees.

That's my take on it. If we all drove Prius's and had no trees we'd still be in huge trouble.

Yep, general consensus along with mine is don't care. Not that I go out of my way to pollute etc, just that I believe global warming and climate change caused by us people is crap.
1) Is the world really warming up, when we are having our coldest December this the early 60's?
2) Climate change will happen regardless, obviously the world goes through changes, we won't be able to stop it no matter how much tax there is.

And op, 4.7l/100? Times all the other numbers by 3 then that might be more realistic. I don't see the point in having clearly unrealistic numbers to make a dig at a new Holden. Leave that stuff for TodayTonight, you're better than that.

So what do they do, cut down huge areas of it.

That's right. If we left most of earths forests alone there would be no pollution with the amount of cars on earth today.

It used to get me really annoyed when people who had wood fires in their houses were considered "polluters" by some. Wood is a renewable resource for crying out loud, and if the forests weren't completely gone there would be no issue burning wood, or driving a big block supercharged methanol drinking monster truck either.

Plant a tree, drive a V8.
