Default focus rs 345hp

I don't like small cars but for this I would make a exception http://blog.caranddriver.com/ford-fo...-disappointed/

if it's an rs really needs to be a 2 door if you look at the rs lineage.

No it doesn't, there was the Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth four door sedan.

I put more weight on the fact it has AWD.

IMO LV RS looked better and I reckon they should be 3 doors as well.

The other half has wanted an RS for some time...
We are on our second LV, as a daily driver with kids.
We don't like the ST very much, hence why sticking with the LV.
But "if" Ford can come up with a price and a delivery date !
Then for awd and lots of go, we might be swayed

It looks cool. How heavy is it? Despite these 'small' cars having impressive outputs they are often weighing in at E series falcon territory now days

This is one of the most anticipated Fords in a long time. I can't wait for this thing to be released. I think that only the RS3 and perhaps even the AMG A 45 will trump it. Its direct competitors, that being the Golf R and STi won't come close to keeping up in their current tune, though.

Did you even read the article? This is the first line -
"The Volkswagen Golf R? The Subaru WRX STI? Ford rooster-tails sand in their faces with the announcement that the awesome new Focus RS will make a staggering 345 horsepower from its 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. The VW packs 292 horsepower, the STI 305."
The reference to 315 was back in Feb when Ford said it will make in excess of 315.

More from drive.com.au

257kW at 6800rpm & 470Nm torque, of which 70% will go through the rear wheels.

Looks excellent:

Pretty sure they're talking about it under-cutting the opposition. Think I saw ~$50k mentioned somewhere?

Edit - found article re: pricing:
http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news...2#.VY86aU2TSJA
  • "likely to be about $50,000"
  • "The brand has a habit of undercutting rivals on price — the Fiesta ST and Focus ST are cheaper than the competition."

Mustang is priced at around $50K for Ecoboost variant, same engine but only RWD and its not as powerful.

So I reckon $65-$75K for RS Focus.

Same engine but it's a lot different at the same time.

I just noticed that, weird that they would feel the need to do that?

I'm liking the look of this car a lot, in fact if this was 18 months early I'd probably tear up my purchase contract for the F6 and wait for this. Other than it being yet another turbo 4 cylinder, I can't really see any negatives..

I like it. Mean little beast.

On a side note, the rear lights at a certain angle remind of the big red Coles hand they use on the "down, down, prices are down" ad.

The last one was $60K retail, no chance this one is cheaper.

Different buyer to mustang anyway, and this thing will likely be the quickest in the Ford line up with and come with an RS badge and AWD, $69K minimum but I'm guessing more.

This one will be a regular production model, not a limited release like the last one, it has standard Focus panels, not flared ones like the previous model, and it will be available right across the globe, so it will have development costs spread further across more sales. All that should offset the extra cost of AWD.

I'd expect it around 55-58k.
