Hi all,
Just a quick question: I'm going to add a Auto-Dim mirror for my 2011 MK1 FG F6, but I see that Ford seem to have put 2 different versions in the FG's... One has a power button on the front, and one doesn't. Can anyone tell me what is the best version to go for? And, what does the button actually do? Thanks in advance! Pez

if you have one of theses. there would be no reason to switch it off. they are fantastic. so id say you wouldnt need the button.
Though the ones I've had on my Ghia & Titanium both have switches. so id be querying the one with no button was actually an auto-dim.

Yep - makes sense.
I guess the advantage of a button could be (for my situation), that if I was lazy and couldn't be bothered hooking up the "reverse" sense / input wire, that all I would need is switched power and GND. Thats simple.... Then when reversing at night, if I wanted the mirror to turn OFF (not dim), I could just hit the button, instead of it happening automatically when the reverse lights come on... Cool.

I have a 2014 FG MK2 GT - and it has the auto dimming mirror without a button.
It's always worked, and seems to be mostly noticeable at night when headlights are shone directly in the mirror, so I've never needed to turn it off. On occasion it is also noticeable when I'm in my dark garage reversing out into the sunlight - but that also helps, so I reckon you don't need a button because you won't need to turn it off.

Yep you are right, however yours will (should) turn off when you select reverse automatically. Unless I go to the the trouble to running a reverse wire up to the mirror mine wont turn off in reverse, so in the unlikely event that this causes me a problem, the button will override and turn it off.
My guess is that I will never need to touch the button, so I will just get whatever I can find Cheers!
