Default Good price for head work?

Hey, im looking at getting an EL head and getting some work to it. Ive been getting some quotes this morning, they've been saying between 450 and 500 to shave it, get some mild porting done and clean all the rocker gear and cam and test it all.

does these sound like reasonable prices to anyone or can anyone suggest what i should be paying?

thnks, bender

Also, about porting, ill be going from an EA to an EL head, is porting really nessessary?? I mean i assume that the EL is going to flow a e load more than my current EA one. I know Id like to have to have the extra power on tap, but does anyone think ill need it with the upgrade ill already be getting?

thnks
ben

I recently got quoted 1300 for a cylinder head fully redone ,ported and oversize valves.I may be mistaken but the au heads have bigger valves than prior models.

AU do run smaller valves than e-series, but can't recall how much samller.

for around the $500 you should be getting.
- Ported and plosihed
- New valve stem seals
- New multi angle seats
- decked
- bronze guides on the exhaust side (good idea if you are running gas)
- pressure tested

if it is, will it also bolt straight on?

Ive also heard that the AU heads dont flow as well as the E series ones. have i heard that wrong or should it be sweet
