Hey im trying to look up a friend of mine that passed away awhile ago, i was working away at the time and have only just found out through shared friends.
Is there someway i could look up the memorials written in the West australia newspaper????? tried a google search before someone mentions that

If you know the newspaper you can look up that particular publication and browse the archives. They normally have archives on obituaries.

Libraries usually also have copries of old papers on microfilm or something.

If it is a smaller town they will do the searches for you if it is a local paper. If you can tell them an approximate date major newspapers will search for a fee for you. I got a copy of a paper from 1964 last year and all I had was a date and the paper was not even printed on that date so they searched for the closest for me cost me about $20.00 including the paper. I did this throught the state library of NSW so maybe the WA state library will help.

Another option (if you know where the person was buried) is to get in contact with the funeral director that assisted with the arrangements. You'll find that most times they are the ones responsible for the lodgement of the notice in the papers in the first place. May also still have copies of the funeral service handout in electronic form too...
