Default EB s XR8

hey guys, i convinced my mate to buy an e-series. we are checking out an eb xr8 tonight. its black, electric sunroof, auto etc... for $5000, urgent sale

the question is, what should we look out for, on the engine side because i have no experience with v8's. like a 6 cyl i would look for the head gasket leaking. Just general things i should look for.
cheers
scott

as for as i know just check for all the same things as usual. leaks, cracks, drips, loose things. im sure ive been told the e series v8s were a very reliable unit.

yeah I dont know much about them either, but it looks like I will have one soonish. Fingers crossed!

I would bet that they are alot more reliable than the 6, but eachcar on its merits I guess.

Whats the fuel economy like (I know its an 8 but still), is it noticeabley worse than the 6?

To be honest, my EB XR8 in normal driving conditions is no more expensive than my wifes previous ED 4.0 . But like any V8 it will use more if you hammer it. Had mine as a weekend driver for two years and nothing bar a tranny service.

my ea 6cyl (chipped and cammed) used just as much fuel as the v8 e-series i've owned..... v8 will go forever.....

check/replace the coolant, the inlet manifolds seem to get a lot of corrosion on cars that havent used a quality coolant in them......

Will probably have rear control arm slap, (good sign it's had a hard life)

Check engine mounts aren't broken, they are expensive mutha's to buy... (although you can use mustang ones that are much cheaper)

Thermo's are a good idea....

Thats looks tidy.... check the sunroof doesnt leak....
