Default T5 from EA S?

My mates mum is selling her 88 EA S-Pack. Its a bit beat up so she might even wreck it, if so do you think it'd be worth trying to get the T5 out of it to eventually do a manual conversion for my car? The car's done about 340,000km, and i have no idea if the box has been reco'd or anything, but the clutch plate is wrecked (the reason its not driven anymore).
Worth it, or too much hassle for something that i could get something newer/better?

well..in a conversion you should machine the flywheel and replace the clutch anyway...... offer them stuff all for the complete car and see if they accept.. sell off what you dont use in the conversion and you might even make a bit of money out of it.....

Though u think its really worth it with the box having done so many k's?
What do you think a decent price would be? My mate said that if she was selling it, she wouldnt be asking much more than $500 or so for the whole car seeing as the interior is a bit messed up and theres a fair bit of panel/paint scratches and dings.
What other parts would i need to complete the conversion?

Nice. I'll try to find out some more history on the car and see if i can give it more of a look-over.
No way i could do the conversion myself, could possibly with my old man. Anyone know what it would cost in labour or would anyone be willing to help out pending how it goes with the car?

Generally e-series blokes are willing to help for a good BBQ and a few beers (or a lot of Coke). The T5 conversion is in my opinion the best thing I've done to the car.

Here's the thread on mine, that ebmanul mentioned

There'd definitly be compensation for the hard work!
Rang my mate before and he's had a falling out with his mum and isnt living there anymore, but i know her well enough and if she wants to get rid of the car, she'll listen.
Just got to decide whether to go ahead with this or a new exhaust first?

Got pulled over for the first time last night. First time in like 3 weeks that i nudge a gutter around a corner, and theres a copper behind me. Went all good but he had a pretty close look over the car. Heres where i mention that i only got my auto P's. Are cops likely to do anything seeing someone with their auto P's driving a manual?

Should of got your auto licence. That way your options are open to anything you want. However I would recommend if you are going to do the conversion dont hit gutters and you wont get pulled over.

Yeah i wasnt really too confident about taking the test in a manual at the time because i only had a few lessons in a manual beforehand and had no manual car to practise in. It wasnt only really until now that this oppurtunity came up and i started wanting the conversion. Also because the auto in the car now behaves a bit weird sometimes.
I'll look into talking to my mates mum to see if she'll wreck it or not.
