Holy jebus. I think they're stuck a few years back.
PS. Love the FAQ section.. Q: "Why do the all the world Governments say the Earth is round?" A: It's a conspiracy Q: "What about NASA? Don't they have photos to prove that the Earth is round?" A: NASA is part of the conspiracy too. The photos are faked. Q: "Why has no-one taken a photo of the Earth that proves it is flat?" A: The government prevents people from getting close enough to the Ice Wall to take a picture. Q: "How did NASA create these images with the computer technology available at the time?" A: Since NASA did not send rockets into space, they instead spent the money on developing advanced computers and imaging software instead PLEASE NOTE This means that pictures confirming the roundness or flatness of the Earth DO NOT IN THEMSELVES CONSTITUTE VALID PROOF Q: "What is the motive behind this conspiracy?" A: The motive is unknown although it is probably money Q: "If you're not sure about the motive, why do you say there is a conspiracy?" A: Well it's quite simple really; if the earth is in fact flat, then the governments must be lying when they say it isn't. |

In one of the articles they seem fairly certain the earth is flat. I don't think its a joke, as the are arguing that the round earth theory makes a mockery of the bible.
People are strange...

I didnt open the link but I am guessing they are saying the Earth is CURRENTLY flat? (which is of course is ridicuous). However I have read 2 other seperate theories on the Earth being flat.
The first theorises that when the Earth was first formed (by whatever means, didnt specify) it may well have been almost flat on top with a big "chunk underneath (like an iceberg) and millions of years of rotating and gravity made it coalesce into a sphere. The second theorises that our current laws/properties of physics may be different to the laws/properties of physics billions of years ago and somewhere in between they altered for whatever reason, which would have rather large implications for many other theories. Of course both theories are way to complicated to explain here, and but I found them interesting reading (I don't buy it, but interesting nonetheless.)

My fiance is doing a Masters in Theology at the moment and her latest assignment was based on "The Catholic Church's Biggest Stuff-Up" (well, not worded quite like that, but you get the idea). Our local priest had a great idea and told the missus what she should write about. Here's the basic story:
Back in the 17th Century, Galileo Galilei, the famous astronomer, tells the world that the Earth is round and that it actually circles the sun, not the other way around. The church calls him a heretic because his findings do not coincide with Scripture passages that deal with the "established" position of the earth (the book of Psalms, by the way, is a collection of poetry and songs written by people who did not have the technology to observe that the world was in fact round and so, therefore, knew no better). Galileo was forced to recant his findings and was imprisoned. Guess how long it took the Catholic Church to apologise? Pope John Paul II finally made an official statement in 1992 that the Theologians of the 17th Century "failed to grasp the profound non-literal meaning of the Scriptures when they describe the physical structure of the universe". That's the basic gist of it, but it's a fascinating story. Here's a few links I just found: http://www.catholicleague.org/research/galileo.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_Galilei

i looked at that a couple of years ago . great laugh . the one thing that got me though was that they reckon light cannot travel through a vacuum . and space is a vacuum . therefore they say the sun is actually in the atmosphere . before space . hmmmm
any scientists out there who can explian this ????????????????????????? |

Q: If the earth is flat, then why is it that nobody has EVER fallen off the edge of the earth when completely a round trip.
I'm sure the Bermuda Triangle theory would come into play there. What a bunch of fruit loops |

Lordy lordy lord.
So im not the only one who finds their argument a little specious?? Their "proof" that the world is flat, rests on debunking the evidence that proves it is round... they dont, at any stage, offer conclusive reasoning which supports their theory. My personal favourite? Hard to choose - but this takes the cake IMO. More amusing parts have been highlighted: "Q: "What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?" A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, circle Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator, located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall. Each functions as a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," the moon "cold light." As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions. " 4.9 EF - round earther and proud!

To the "Flat Earthers" credit, they think that the person who started the thread is a moron too.

People love conspiracy theories like this...:
We've had some great theories over the years - 9/11 was all the American Government and had nothing to do with Osama, We never went to the Moon, and The Da Vinci Code just to name a few - some websites floating around are hilarious because these people honestly believe its all true! They are the lucky people who know the truth unlike the rest of our ignorant selves! Der, of course the world is flat!: |
