Hi Ford guys (and gals). My name is Chris and l work for WADE CAMS.
One of your esteemed members (gthofan) also works at Wades. Scott, or Gunna as we sometimes call him (one of many names we use) has mentioned this forum to me, so, l thought l should join, even though l don't drive a Ford. I'm a really old guy (just turned 54) and, in order to celebrate my mid life crisis, l decided to buy myself a VW Mk5 Golf GTI. Tornado red (because every-one knows red makes the car go faster) 6 speed DSG transmission, sunroof, satnav. I'm currently considering getting an APR stage 1 remap which will take the output from 147 to 188kws and 280 to 411nms. Anyway, l love my GTI as l'm sure you folk love your cars. If you have any questions about cams in general, or, even better, if you want to buy one from Wades....send me a PM, I'll do my best to help you. Cheers Chris WADE CAMS |

Welcome Chris... One thing I have always wondered when doing searches for cam specs, is why Wade dont have any Ford 5.0 cam grinds on the website...
The only brand that gives out their cam specs (That I can find) is crane... one of the reasons I think they are more popular with the 5.0 people...

If you'd like to give an indication of what you're looking for, l could get one of our tech guys to make a recommendation. If you're not looking for something at present, that's fine, when you are, feel free to talk to us. I'd be surprised if we couldn't assist you, camshaft wise. |

I've been advised by an AFF Director that only official sponsors are permitted to "sell their products" on this forum. I fully understand this policy and apologise for breaching the rules. It was not my intention to do so.
Until Wade Cams is accepted as a sponsor of AFF, we will refrain from discussing camshafts in any way, either directly by posting or by PM. We would not like to be put in a position of being banned from this forum. Sorry for the inconvenience guys and once again, my apologies to the forum leaders. Cheers Chris WADE CAMS |

There are many ways to "advertise" and l accept that we infringed the rules.
It would be my hope that the people in charge of AFF will grant WADE CAMS the opportunity to become a sponsor....provided we can afford it. Until then, we won't get involved in any camshaft discussions through AFF. If members wish to contact us direct, naturally, that's totally different. Be patient, hopefully we'll soon be welcomed into the AFF family. Cheers Chris |

Hi mate and welcome aboard.
That's a substantial increase in Nm for the GTI. What does the remap include? Just a computer change? What are the GTIs supposed to do stock down the 1/4? Cheers

The APR remap is done via the directport, linked up to the APR head office in Alabama via the internet. It takes around 15 minutes and, at $2,000 works out at approx. $2.22 per second. I have to say l'm a bit sceptical about the claimed torque figure. To go from 280 to 411nm seems a bit hard to accept. APR stage 2 and 3 involve a complete 3" stainless steel exhaust, new turbocharger, carbon "air ram" and so on. Stage 2 claims 228kw, stage 3...243kw. Some performance shops in Europe reckon they can get 300kw. Given that we're dealing with a FWD car, the whole notion of a 300kw engine seems absolutely idiotic. How the hell could you expect to get traction. |
