Default Ea Release Date

Hi all, now, i know the EA was released in 88 but i have recently become aware by MADNC8 that some have 1987 build dates. How far back into 1987 do these examples go ?

yeah ive seen a couple of 87 ea's, and i have seen a 2/88 XF Ghia

no idea weather the pre 88 ea's should have ever gotten out......

ea release was officially 88, so they were probably test cars that somehow escaped

Kool thank you heaps for your knowledge guys. I always knew i had one of the first OFFICIAL EAs. Thats why i dont want to deviate from the mods which have already been done. Maybe im getting old (wife, kids and work do that !) but im over Subbies,Amps and so called high powered head units, the stock unit does me fine.

Audio is a bit lame IMO, just do the mods thats are within your budget and enjoy. Just keep up the servicing and it will be fine.

you might find that they are prototype builds just b4 launch (or what we call JOB1 which are costomers cars) they use em for field evaluation and all that great stuff maybe sold them as ex demo cars it usually goes CP build 1 then 2 then 3 these 1,s are used for assembly trials and quality issues and crash testing then its field evaluation units that where they rak up the K,s in them this is when the mags try to get all the pics by the way CP1 for orion is prob late feb

The two models had to end and start somewhere. Just because they are the same month doesn't mean they overlapped. How do you know your EL wasn't built on, say the 3rd and the AU was built on the 20th.

XH was quite a bit different than an XD.
Everything from the firewall forward was an EF.

i think dave was getting at the actual "XF" ute model run went from 84 - 92 (launch of EB2) it then became the XG and picked up some updates like the OHC 4.0, 4 speed auto, abs optional....
up untill that point it still had the 4.1(250xflow) and BW M51 3 speed auto...

no wonder the VN-VS utes took off like they did.....the falcon was years behind

the commodore couldnt match it for load capacity, torque(unless V8) or towing capacity however - (probably the only saving grace for it)
