Default What's this damn rattle in the back?

I recently purchased a 12/05 BF XR6 turbo with only 8000 k's on the clock. 2000 k's later I've got this annoying rattle in the back somewhere that is especially noisy over bumps and small potholes. The dealership I bought it from tells me it is the control blade suspension that requires tightening of bolts at each service, but to me it sounds like shoddy shockers. Anyone got any ideas?

I had a rattle in the back of my 3/06 build F6. Ford service couldn't find it, but I did. It was the U shaped catch attached to the rear bulk head that holds the rear seat back in place. It had been cross threaded at assembly and left loose.

;)

I had an AU with the same noise and rattle as you're a describing. Does it sound like the spare tire could be loose on some bumps, that kind of bumping? The AUs were quite common at getting this and perhaps a few BAs/BFs get the problem too.

My guess is that it's one of your rear top shock mounts that has worn out. Some don't take long, 8K+ it could definitely be possible. We changed mine, peace and quiet, no more annoying rattles.

Yep i have the same rattle... definately sounds like suspension to me.

Took the XR6 into Ford for its 30 000 service and let them know, they said "We noticed you have and after market exhaust... that's where the rattling would be coming from."

What a load of crap! U didn't even check did u! I said.

Further diagnostics needed, they wrote on the service card.

WTF ? Poor quality control and workmanship by Ford there. Makes you wonder about what else may be shoddily done on other Falcons out there...

I have this same problem in my BA XR6 (2003). I also have the standard non-functioning handbrake problem.
Funnily enough, when I had the handbrake fixed under warranty, the noise completely disappeared. A few days later, the noise came back. So I checked the handbrake and, sure enough, it no longer worked.
So it seems when the handbrake is working the noise is gone.
Can anyone take any guesses as to which part that could be?

I had a similar problem with my 04' BA XR6T. It took Four (yes 4) trips to ford to get fixed. It turned out to be a bad weld in the parcel shelf that didnt take properly from the factory. They re-welded the shelf and the noise is all gone...

Hope this isnt your problem as this is a pain in the a$s to get ford to fix.

BA/BA dont have the same style shock mount that the AUs have in the cabin. With Control blade the shock mounting is in the wheel well.
