Default MSN Messenger 7.0

Anybody else who uses it having trouble logging in? Every time I try, I get this dialogue:
Quote:
MSN Messenger
Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to the MSN Messenger at this time. Please try
again later. 80072f19
(Retry) (Cancel) (Help)
And, as usual, the help is no help at all.

I've been trying for the past 1/2 hour or so, and I know my username and password are correct, because they're my hotmail account details, and I successfully logged into hotmail...

I agree, MSN is a weird thing, I personally prefer Yahoo messenger (much more reliable, basically the same features), but everybody uses MSN... :(

In MSN go to Tools > Options > Conection > Advanced settings
remove all ticks except TCP and see if that works

Nope, thanks for the suggestion, didn't make any difference, but was worth a try.

Only firewall we have setup here is the one that comes with XP SP2, and I've managed to connect without any real problems in the past...

Don't get me started on this abominable program, I have been happily using 6.X or whatever version was the last, until tonight when I decided to get version 7. The application just crashes half the time, and when it does open, all you see is the border of the program and thats it, you cant use it. People started talking and some borders came up and that was it, very cool stuff... After trying to re-install 6.X it hit me with a forced auto-update (fuk off microsoft) so I uninstalled the whole frigging thing and am using windows messenger now. MSN 7 is atrocious

MSN started giving me problems on Trillian to the point that the whole program would crash... so I promptly took it out and just use it separately now as its part of the Passport network within XP Pro...

anyway.... not a big fan of it.

but anyway, if anybody wants to chat, I still use it my screen name is: JerseyVics@msn.com

ever since msn 6.1 i have problems with file transfer's not being seen by others... like i go to send a pic, it works, go to send another one... failed to deliver invitation... then keeps doing that. bloody stupid stuff. oh and msn 7.0 seems to crash everytime you shut it down.

other than that msn seems ok for me, got notified this morning there was a new version to download? downloaded damn quick so it just must be a small fix or something

You guys have the 813 build? MSN dont release a changelog but they could have fixed some of your problems.
