I Googled and found a few but I closed them. :P Just search for Mirny mine and some of the pages have pics while others talk about the mine itself.

Yeah googling "big hole" probably won't return savoury results! :hihi:

Damn that is a crazy hole... I read one of the google results about the Russian "Silver Bear" diamonds. Fascinating!

It's a diamond mine. Big one.

Although if you want to see big, google Bingham Canyon a lead zinc mine.

The proposed open pit operation for Olympic dam is sort of on the same scale, they'll have to dig 500 meters down (think about that, because you have to dig sideways to make a nice big ramp) before they get to the good stuff.
