i also don't get how you had no brakes and lights etc?

i drove my old EA with a dead alternator for ages... mind you.. night time will drain the battery quicker.. but it lasted a good hour of night time driving...

lucky you didn't hit anything tho.. and easy enuf to get fixed...

Why does no one listen. The people who are giving Dan crap actually know him in real life too. CALM DOWN! :

The reason he would have no brakes or power steering was pretty well explained in his first post and is the reason he got stuck on the side of the road. The car died while doing 100kph on the freeway so no engine running means no power steer and no power assistance for the brakes and also no headlights. Not a good thing as I imagine he would have been on the Monash and as he said he was in between traffic too.

I never said you did, I said we knew him and it was just a bit of friendly banter.

AU2PWR.I am glad no one got hurt mate. Cruising at speed and the alternator dying would not be fun at all. Good to hear its fixed and running again though. It is compnent which can give way on any car...

Brakes are good for at least one stop before all pedal feel is lost when the engine dies......

If you can stop in one application of the brakes on a Melb freeway without getting cleaned up you are a miracle worker.

What I read here should be played out on IRC, I know some of you are mates.
There are also I few of you in this thread who report posts on this site for crappy quality threads, well here is another one.

pedal feel is lost but brakes will still be there. Will just take a might stomp on them to get them to work. This could easily be mistaken for no brakes

Cheers

no alcohol here and that's a slightly odd remark to make.

everybody in this thread has had a bit of a muck around on here at some point and to pretend otherwise would be kidding yourself. it was a joke and i think some people need to look up what that means.
