Default Lots of cash to blow and want to own the first GT-R in AUS?

Yes, I realise it's for race use only, but there's a buyer for everything!

It looks like a stock GT-R... and I think once it has passed ADR, it's street legal.

If it's being imported for motorsport use it can *never* be road registered. Thems the rules boys. Otherwwise you get to pay a stack more on import duties and trying to get the thing to comply to adrs.

Didn't I read that the even the road going version for release next year will require an engine tear down / rebuild every 100k ?

Something to do with the plasma cylinder bores and special pistons.

She won't exactly be an economical proposition if that's part of the running costs.

I'd say the real reason it's offered as race only is no one can comply them yet. These will be importable for road use at some stage.

That IS the road going version. Buying one from a dealer here they don't know what the costs will be yet, upwards of 150k so far though people still have them on order (one dealership is getting 4, 3 are sold). There will be a couple of other version that are not yet available even in Japan.

The Americans are actually getting the GT-R cheaper than it is in Japan, Porsche 911 Turbo performance for Corvette money and it's faster than both.

It's about 1/2 the price of an equivilent 911.
