Oh and T-terror, I've heard of people putting blocks of wood or rubber in between the coils so they don't compress. Just driving them into Vicroads to get it cleared then jacking the car up and pulling them out again when they've passed. Dunno if it would work or not though. |

my old man told me about a cop like him when my old man was my age this cop defected his bike every day. every day dad would go to the cop shop and get it cleared. this bloke got every one. he ended up booking a bloke one day called miron kelly. mister kelly filled a milk churn full of explosive and put it under the coppers house. needless to say bits of this cop and his wife and kids were found all over town. this happend in a place called bega n.s.w true story. why do the other members of the force put up with s like this who give the good cops a bad name is beyond me.

You just cant get away from anal-retentive people like that. They're everywhere in life - there was this one teacher at school.... it still sh*ts me to think about it!!!! (3 years later)

I hope they executed this Kelly bloke. Also, anyone that wants to suggest using violence against police might have trouble getting onto the forums ( get the hint ?? ) whether he is a **** head or not.
Like or not, Pettit is doing his job properly. If you can't get past his inspections then you are in contravention to the law. He is just one of those people that uses no discretion. He may have got rogered once using his discretion ( some people are ungrateful bastards.. been there, found that out ) and now just hammers everyone. To sum it up, the rest of the force has a name for TMU like him , Jury F****rs. The force loves them because they get great stats. Funny thing is he never used to write tickets at all, just did a bucketload of canaries. Oh yeah, contest the unreg fine, it'll get dropped as you had paid it before you got pulled over. The worst you could get done for is not having the sticker on. |

I worked with him once. I know what he is like.
Fair and legal may not be the same thing. No one ever said that life was fair.. build a bridge. |

I think 460cixy was just telling an interesting story, noone is inciting violence against police.
And noone should have to "build a bridge" becasue they are being harassed for being young and/or having a nice car. If its defective then thats fine hes doing his job but everyone knows damn well this Petit guy gets off a bit too much on making other peoples lives miserable over nothing. And if he genuinely thinks hes doing the right thing then he isnt qualified to be handing out canaries or fines since hes made plenty of mistakes in regards to whats legal on cars and whats not which has been proven in court. Call/write a compaint or pursue further if it stirkes you to do so is my advice. Doubtful you will make any changes but if enough people do then somehting will be done. |

I know a number of people that have been picked up by this guy. I think it's interesting that Vic Police allow him to operate in this manner. While what he does is within the law, it doesn't help the Vic Police's image at all.
What they obviously forget, or don't care about, is that young blokes will take this one bad experience, and that will become how they view all Police- uncaring and inflexible; basically out to get them. Generally I've found this to be the opposite, the large majority of Cops have got better things to do than hassle people about how low or loud thier car is. I reckon it's a shame that all Police should be perceived to all be the same just because of one guy. Then they go and blow cash trying to improve young people's perception of the Police. Pretty sad state of affairs. - John |

yea there are alot of good ones, and alot of lazy ones, got done and am still waiting on a court appearacne for 'unlicanced driving' i have a letter from the officer in charge saying my last ticket was suspended and my licance is valid but they neglected to fax it to qld transport and thats the system qld police run off when pulling over cars, hence i got a notice to appear, pleaded not guilty and now have to wait for 4 weeks to have my case heard in court..... i will have great joy in getting my licance back.
i just wish they would do their job ing properly as now i dont have a job beacause of their around and living off savings SUCKS ****! best of luck with it all mate i know how you feel when you get unfairly done.

The police aren't running a popularity contest. There are plenty of people that would applaud PETTIT for his work on modified cars. As long as he is operating within the laws and policies set down, complain away because you won't do any good. If the laws are unfair, lobby to get them changed. Pointless complaining about someone doing his job achieves nothing. There seems to be some misconception that the laws should cater for the minority. Like it or not, we are the odd ones out. We are but 5000 people out of 18 or so MILLION in Australia with an interest in cars ( Fords in this case ). Even if we got all the people interested in modified cars on one site.. we are still a tiny percentage. We have to abide by the laws or face the consquences. There are plenty of things I would do to my car if the laws were different .. but they aren't ... so build a bridge. Last edited by XA-Coupe; 29-06-2005 at 07:50 PM. Reason: added link |

what i said was he needs a good smack in the chops. i never asked anyone to do it or said i was doing it my self . so its hardly inciteing violance towards police. i recon ya need to chillax a bit champ. and stop takeing crap like that so serious. and as for miron kelly going to jail i beleave he did 20 years or there abouts and still lives in bega to this day.

I may need to chill, you need to work on getting your message across better and not using throw away lines that aren't funny or really necessary.

still to low? you can always get a cover note on it to drive around on, then take it to vic roads to be cleared.

Cover note would only cover you driving to the mechanics and back by the most driect route and yes heaps of people have been done for taking detours to mates places, shops etc on the way. I dont think they would give you temporary reg just to get defect cleared, but can always ring up and try.
Best idea might be to get your exhaust redone and moved up, otherwise you will have a 4x4 by the time it gets to a satisfactory height. |

looks like your in a pickle dude. here you can get a permit to drive it to and from rego and get repares done only thing is ya cant leave the a.c.t on a permit. i would be getting the exaust raised cause it will only get rooted otherwise

I'm 99% sure you're allowed to drive straight to the VicRoads office using the most direct route. This is the case with registering car's. As long as you have a valid RW and can show that you are on your way to get it cleared there shouldn't be a problem.

yeh i know i can drive it to vic roads to get cleared caus on the defect notice it says it can be driven from repaired or such to vic roads but doesn't say you can drive it to the repairer??
im not aloud to drive it now because it has been a week since i got the defect but it doesn't get suspended until 24/7/05 unless i fix it! SO ANOYING!! also i don't need a RWC to clear it all i had to do was get 100mm ground clearance and vic roads has to inspect it
