Thumbs down Bill Osborne to resign!

I can't say how I came to access this information, but I can confirm it is true and that he will be returning to the USA in a position outside of the automotive industry and that it will be effective September.

I for one are very dissapointed as I thought he was doing a great job and steering the ship well

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

What the ...... ?

These are turbulent times at FoA. Right now they need stable & strong leadership.

If this is true this is really bad news (as well as the 350 more jobs to go) :

Not good news, they need a firm long lasting leadership that builds into the future if they're to be running smoothly

I think so too, no dissrespect to people from O/S, but a good hard working, Ford-headed local would be a great thing. Geoff Polites had a huge amount of respect, and his enthusiasm snowballed throughout the company. Morale at this time would be low, and it needs a turnaround. Ford will be in the crap if unions start getting involved more with unhappy workers.

That said...we havent heard the other side of the story, maybe he's got personal or family reasons behind the decision

More like he INHERITED a sinking ship from that scumbag Tom Gorman.

That Gorman was given a robust profitable company with good product and a sound business plan. When Osbourne took over it was too late. If he had taken over early when key business decisions were being made things would be different:

ie.-Gorman decision not to chase exports and Gorman axing of diesel Falcon/Territory program

He could of left before Ford really goes down, something very tragic and I hope I'm wrong.

Just an amazing opportunity that he never thought would be available to him at this stage of his career.

Read it must be a pretty senior gig

"Ford Australia boss Bill Osborne has resigned suddenly, less than 24 hours after the company announced it would cut 350 jobs.

Outgoing Ford Australia president Bill Osborne
Ford Australia has been dealt another blow with the shock resignation of its newly appointed president Bill Osborne after just six months into the role.

This is sad news for Ford Australia. It finally seems they have a leader to swing them back to a more positive and profitable direction and it isn't to be. Let's hope his replacement is as good for Ford as it seemed Bill was going to be.

Goodluck to him, if there is a better opportunity then go for it. A job like that would have been in the pipe a long time ago, not something he would have just accpeted yesterday.
All the best to FoA, not going to be easy finding someone decent without $$ to pay for them.

About time. Now Ford Forums can take over running the company. Sack the marketing department, supercharge the V8, turbo charge all other models, might stop ranting now and have a lie down.......
