Default BA doors

Are BA doors the same as AU doors? i'm refering to just the shell side of things, with the window glass, door hinges, power window regulators etc...

The shell is the same, apparently a lot of cabbies grab AU doors to replace theirs if they get damaged. Cheaper than BA doors I'd assume, but fits in no worries.

So i take it the exterior door handle is based on the same? or atleast interchangable..

That would be my assumption, I'm not sure about the latches, because I know they fiddled around with them in the BA, but they're also probably interchangable.

Really? The crease line & side trim is different between AU and BA, so a BA with AU doors would look pretty funny. The shape of the doors and handles are the same, but I think that's where any similarities end.

i think you'll find the crease line is the same, but the side trim is different. easy enough to change tho.

I would guess the door handle is the same as there was no need to reengineer it.

I have put AU doors on BA taxis

Externally the same except for the plastic stripe, but the holes are the same so simply put your BA stripe on, lots of fun getting off that tape

On the inside the trim and door handle is different obviously and a BA trim will NOT fit straight on to an AU door. It can be made to fit but there are several new holes needed to be drilled, also some plastic plug bits for the screws to go into have to be moved
The main problem area is around the handle, the metal folds the opposite way
I have adapted them by cutting out the BA handle area and bolting it in place of the AU handle area but it is not as simple as it seems.

Slight differences in door rubbers, BA has many more clips around the top of the door, where AU's always came off, but they will fit each other

Hinges same

Handles same

I used the BA wiring, easier as everything fits

Window parts were upgraded but will fit, power switch inside door is different.

Door locks were upgraded but can be swapped by changing an arm or two

Another warning is an electric rear window interior will not go onto a wind up door without a few changes either. There is only only 1 type of BA door but the placement of the holes and screw in bung things is different due to the handles and winders.
